NCIS: LA 4.10 Free Ride

Hark, a Christmas episode! As a British viewer, I wouldn’t know what to do with an American Christmas episode around the Christmas holiday.

I've also posted a couple of ficlets: ce matin, ce soir, hier soir The Musketeers (BBC), Teen, Aramis/Anne. Written for the prompt ‘The Musketeers (BBC), Aramis + any woman, Consent’; and An unexpected fit Fairy Tales (Cinderella), Universal. King, Queen, Cinderella, Prince. Cinderella/Prince. Written for the prompt ‘Fairy Tales, Cinderella/Prince, King & Queen POV - "This is the girl who fits the slipper!"’

I forgot to mention that both were prompts from [livejournal.com profile] comment_fic. They were both drafted in the week when the prompts appeared and subsequently edited. Form is important in both, the non-linear structure of the The Musketeers fic and the alternating POV in the Cinderella ficlet. The latter is set in a conglomeration of various versions of the fairy tale as opposed to one. I am thinking about posting the WIP meme, but I don't want to jinx the writing that is currently going on.

And then last night I rewatched Stranger than Fiction, which was a delight, and had a moment where I went ‘I know that voice’. Linda Hunt turns up for one scene. I knew I knew her from all sorts of things, but it’s great that she was in StF.

I went to see Gifted yesterday, about which all I need to say is it’s Chris Evans playing a guy trying to bring up his brilliant niece. Logan and Hidden Figures (which makes better use of Octavia Spencer) are better films that overlap thematically, but they do not have Chris Evans playing a guy doing his best to bring up a kid.

I watched a lot of NCIS: LA season 3 episodes during last week.

and I have a lot to say about it )

I think that season 4 is going to be aired at a less intense frequency, which suits me.

Why has no-one written an NCIS: LA/Inception fusion?

I have just got out of a rabbit-hole of sorting out my icons, motivated by the fact that i. Poldark is coming back this weekend (I appreciate their wanting to avoid Victoria, but couldn’t they have waited for Agents of SHIELD to finish? Perhaps it’s not an obvious overlap to the schedulers, but it includes me, and the way AoS is currently firing on many cylinders and its fight scenes will make me choose that first.) ii. I have stuff to say about NCIS: LA, so I’ve got icons and iii. I have more icon slots than I thought on LJ!?

I’ve been continuing to mainline the top and tail of season 3 of NCIS: LA. spoilers )

On Thursday night, I fully intended to watch Brooklyn Nine-Nine, but I sat down to look at books online about twenty minutes before and when I checked the time next, it was six minutes past nine and, well, I'll catch up and write about it later.

Earlier in the week I did watch a whole episode of Suits (6.11) online, i.e. I went and looked for it because it airs at 10pm on a Sunday night, which is not a time I’m going to attempt to start to watch a show.

My previous association with Suits has been fragmentary, growing from a flurry of Harvey/Donna fics on my friends list or het_reccers. Oh yes, I'm so far down the fandom journey that I've read fic without consuming the canon properly - reading outlines or reviews, watching clips or vids will do to give me a grasp of things. Sometimes it turns into my watching the show/film properly. I did try to watch Suits, understood the concept (but the way it all revolved around Harvey and Mike, pretty though they are, didn't hook me and the lawyering didn't either. I grasped that Donna was awesome and enjoyed watching Gina Torres, but I don't think I watched a full episode. In the last one I saw, the music editor was really into the xx (which I understand) and Harvey was in a relationship with a single mother?

Anyway, a TV guide said something about spoilers for 6.11 )

In other news, Festivids went live more than several days ago and I have many new vids to watch.

Yesterday, I posted:

Finding Harry Potter. Teen. Hannah/Neville (and various other pairings.) Summary: Hannah has to find Neville.

It was inspired by a [livejournal.com profile] comment_fic prompt that has subsequently been deleted. I don’t know what the etiquette for that is, quite. Read more... )

Isn’t it great about Tatyana Maslany winning an Emmy? I couldn’t keep up with the Orphan Black and didn’t love it enough to buy the DVD, but her performances as the clones were thoroughly impressive.

Last night, instead of catching up on Gotham or B99, I binged on what were for me the three bonus episodes of Scorpion - in hindsight, the break and change of slot was because the UK had caught up with the US, which hadn't yet aired the last block of episodes, and I just didn't realise. It doesn't help that the ITV hub doesn't let you know about future episodes as clearly as, say Channels 4 and 5 equivalents do when we're talking about an unheralded show like Scorpion.

I presumed that they weren’t showing the advertised episode because of the terrorist attacks in Brussels (and given that the title of episode 2.15 was ‘Da Bomb’ and what I've subsequently read up, that makes sense). Yes, I did research. Yes, the show gets a tag.
