Orphan Black is coming back next week to BBC Three (this was almost the only thing I felt strongly about the news that BBC Three will soon be an online only show, I’m the tail-end of Gen X, too old for the channel). There’s no way it’ll be airing in double bills if it’s following so closely on the heels of the American airing, which I think is a good thing, as they packed so much into an episode that anything extra was too much of a good thing for me. (See, too old.)

That's the good news, the bad news is that The Bletchley Circle appears to have been cancelled. Ugh. To lift a quote from Twitter referenced in the article : "There are obviously already too many women geniuses being awesome on TV".

Next week is the hundredth episode. I’m unspoiled for that and, so far, unspoiled for everything that’s aired (we're six episodes behind). I fear that it’s either going to be American fans thinking two weeks is long enough not to bother with spoiler warnings or something outside of fandom that’ll spoil me for whatever happened. My brain is playing all kinds of speculative games.

THEN last night I went to see The Lego Movie and it was delightful and all that I could hope for. I never played much with Lego as a child, but I would love to see articulate meta about the meta going on in the film. All I’ve got is that there were times when I could not believe that this was a Warner Brothers movie ( Read more... ) Excellent vocal casting, so many jokes that I barely stopped smiling, clever, clever details, plus it’s a film for all age ranges. (Maybe not for tinies who can’t sit in chairs and are too young to stay quiet or probably play Lego, PARENTS IN MY ROW.)
