In July 2007, I wanted to commemorate having 500 posts memorised on my Livejournal. So, I wrote five ficlets, none rated higher than PG. See below for title, fandom and other details. The overall title and theme for the collection comes from the ER episode, 'Photographs and Memories'.

Mainly movies watched in April ‘25

Years and years ago, when I started a post containing links to all the fanfiction posted here, I dated it somewhere in the far future. That day is now today. I've had to tick the sticky box (because that was beyond me way back when in the early days of getting Dreamwidth) so that it remains the first thing you see.

To the movies!

On streaming: Free Color popped up, made in 2019, but I’d never heard of it before. It’s a sparse thriller that becomes a family drama set in the middle of climate breakdown, and its main character has superpowers. ( Read more... )

At the cinema: Mr. Burton, and I really enjoyed it. I only knew scattered facts about Richard Burton’s life (only finding out how he came to have his surname thanks to promo for this film) and haven’t seen much of his work. ( Read more... )

I meant to post this earlier, but I've been busy with family stuff and wanted to prioritise posting about The West Wing. Last week, I got an e-mail from Dreamwidth saying,

'Your account has been randomly selected to receive someone's payment through our
sponsor-a-free-user program.'

So, I've got a paid account for a year. (I never got one here because IIRC there was an issue with PayPal and the last time I looked it seemed very complicated for me to pay from the UK, so I lived with 15 icons.) This means more icons - so I've also been distracted by uploading old ones I used here and at LJ - and maybe polls.

In a very January 2022 move, it appears as though All4 has dropped The West Wing. I'm now left bitterly ruing a decision I made to finish watching a season of another show on DVD instead the other night, although I don't know if TWW had already been dropped. It's galling beause I haven't rewatched the season 3 finale. If I had, and it was a case of finally deciding to start buying the show on DVDs and start with season 4, that would be one thing, but at a time of rising inflation and trying to be sensible about money, I may end up buying a whole season's DVD to rewatch one episode. First world problem, obviously, but not the only one.

IN SPACE! (BSG)

I’ve been reposting some ficlets to Dreamwidth and AO3 the last couple of days, one Dark Angel gen, baby’s first Sky High ficlets: two featuring Warren/Layla pining and one gen fic from Principal Power’s POV. I’ve still got a pile of fics to repost whenever I have the bandwidth. Trying to work out what I was thinking when it came to formatting and titles of documents in 2006 was a challenge..

Last night, I took advantage of the fact the BBC now has Battlestar Galactica on the iPlayer and I can watch that on my telly and watched the first part of the miniseries. I’m in – I thought I would be, but I was also curious, because I come at it having read some novelisations of the original series (don’t judge), not being able to see it when it first aired, but having picked up a lot by fannish osmosis.

I saw an lj friending meme in passing recently – I didn’t take part, mainly because of my issues of which spoilerphobia is but one. You were meant to present general information about yourself, what TV shows, films, books etc you were interested in and also which ships you were into. I have to admit that that’s where my eyes fell when looking at other people’s answers, because it’s all very well liking the same shows, but someone might well be into a ship that I have zero interest in/am opposed to/don’t see. Ahem.

But I did wonder how I’d accurately represent the ships I’m into at the moment. ( What follows is an attempt. )

Clearing the decks

Yesterday, I finally posted all the fic that I’d posted to Dreamwidth to Archive Of Our Own. Yay! It only took me years to do so. If I were going to archive my fic elsewhere, I might not be as determined to post everything there. This still means that I need to repost fic that was only posted at lj and ff.net (and Geocities, it’s that old) to both DW and AO3. It will probably also take ages, but I’ll warn if I get a burst of energy and start spamming.

I've been updating the page linking to fills for my prompts at the Three Sentence Fiction ficathon because lovely people have been writing gorgeous fics. And lovely and talented people have been writing other stuff there too. (And what Dreamwidth asks of me to prove that I'm not a spambot is much less anxiety-inducing than other websites demand.)

I watched The Mindy Project pilot, for the show has arrived in the UK. ( Er, I haven't ever seen When Harry Met Sally )

I miscalculated with Person of Interest and thought I was only an episode behind. I was, in fact, two. Now I'm back to being behind on one.

I've tidied up my friends list and my reading circle. Well, tried to, at any rate. If I've added you to my LJ flist, it's because I kept popping over to your journal to have a look at your entries :) If I've added you to my reading circle at DW, it's because I'm trying to make it more like my flist (which I still read first, but because of LJ's wobbles, I'm using Dreamwidth more and more these days, so it seemed wise.) If I've cut you from my flist, I doubt you'll be reading this, because you haven't posted for a while/I can't remember us interacting.

Enough procrastination! Housework.
