Fic: Three fills for ThreeSentenceFicathon 2025

Ficlets: one Mansfield Park, one Wicked Part 1 and one original fiction. Anything over 100 words will also be posted at AO3 and, where suitable, ff.net.

One more time. Mansfield Park, Henry Crawford/Fanny Price, futurefic. Written for the threesenstenceficathon prompt 'Any, any, What if your eyes looked up and met mine'. 102 words.

The name ‘Mrs Bertram’ pierces through the hubbub of conversation, and Henry frowns. His hearing has remained good over all these years, although he tires more easily and needs the aid of glasses if he is to read, but he trusts his eyes now as his glance roves through the suddenly crowded room, and she is there. Not the tallest, not the most fashionably dressed, indeed, she is in mourning, but her face is serene in a way that he knows his is not after decades of disappointment, but he wills her to feel the weight of his gaze, and she does.

I see you. Wicked Part 1. Elphaba. Written for the threesentenceficathon prompt 'frogs'. 112 words.

They have different shades, she notices, hard not to, because when she lifts her head to ponder what she's read when she’s outside, she's usually by the water, by the frogs, so she notices them. The sun seems determined to point out that some are darker, some are paler, some are speckled, and the words thrown at Elphaba come to mind, asparagus, moss, and others, jade, chartreuse, but she utters them gently – she never sees one quite the same shade as her. It is only after what happens on Professor Dillamond's last day and with the lion cub that it occurs to her that she’s never heard the frogs talk, only croak.

Stuff and Nonsense. Original fic. Original characters. Written for the threesentenceficathon prompt ‘Any, Any, Stuff and nonsense.’ 90 words.

“These are Stephanos and Nunez, they will be your guards from this day forward.” The daughter of the house takes these words cooly, and looks in turn at the new hires, both taller and bulkier than her, their very stance suggesting that they will be competent in their roles, and styles them, “Stuff and Nonsense.” She is enough of a favourite here, even though she needs the extra protection after rejecting the prince’s suit, that that becomes what everyone calls them, and quite quickly they find they do not mind.
