Brooklyn Nine-Nine triple bill

So, this episode got jossed by the pandemic, so I’m safe to assume B99 is in an AU, yesss? Bill and his beard seemed to be prefiguring lockdown facial hair, though.
My favourite moment was Cheddar appearing through the smoke, corny and mocked though it was. Amy was especially grouchy.
Great, surreal opening to the Halloween heist, as seen from outsider POVs. Nice to see Rosa win. And how ridiculously far they all went.
7.12 Ransom
Continues to be jossed by life/set in an AU because this was set in May if the number of years since the bad guy was in jail was right.
Excellent ending with Samberg doing his thing, all excited because – no, make that UNDERSTANDABLY excited because we witnessed Holt live up to all his threats and become a fearsome action star because someone dognapped Cheddar. Did we need a slo-mo run of Cheddar an episode after we had had one? Well, this was in daylight rather than smoke, so yes, especially as it led to Pygmalion referencing and certainly My Fair Lady riffing as Jake tried to become Kevin.
My only note is that I don’t know what had become of the timelines, because surely someone would have told Amy that her husband had been abducted. But never mind that, I always love Amy-Rosa scenes, and I love that Rose knew to get a gift receipt. The return of Teddy worked in this context.
The other plotline featuring Terry and Charles was amusing because of Charles’s delusions, and the exploding jars were a sight to behold, even if the fact they’d never discussed the recipe of a bone soup was a red flag. Good opener also.
7.13 Lights Out
Well, that was an epic way to bring the young Peralta-Santiago baby into this world. Love how everyone played their part, even if I thought Amy was insane (but IC) for sticking to her duty while giving birth. Really frank details of pregnancy there, guys. And a balance between both parents.
I enjoyed Dot the awful senior citizen, the fact that firefighters (did we know that the precinct hate them from before? It’s all of a piece with previous hatreds) and the horse were involved in helping out. I feel like an idiot for not seeing the ‘Push It’ gag coming. Although I was not surprised that the offspring would have a Die Hard referencing name.
Really nice balance with the heartfelt stuff at the end and the tying up of loose amusing ends.
