Recs 6/?

Fanfiction recs in the following fandoms: The Blue Castle, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Gilmore Girls, Lizzie Bennet Diaries and The Philadelphia Story.

The Blue Castle

Three times Valancy said what she was thinking (and one time she didn’t have to): hardlygolden (gen/ Valancy /Barney, post book)

What a glorious continuation! The tone and characters are just right. Valancy ponders some big things here, but it’s deftly, beautifully done.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer

All In a Row: voleuse (Drusilla/Spike, pre-show, mature)

This is very good, with a multi-faceted Drusilla, and I loved her dynamic with Spike as they kill their way through Prague. The sixth section is spectacular with its revelation and resonances.

Gilmore Girls

I Don’t Know Why Sometimes I Get Frightened: fourteenlines (Lorelai/Luke, post season 4, teen)

Tremendous fun! Lorelai and Luke’s first date becomes a catalogue of farcical disasters. What made thi sparkle for me was Lorelai's interior voice, and I loved the throughline of the stereotypical teenage first date experience contrasted and yet overlapping with what was happening and what that meant for Lorelai. i loved all the Stars Hollow regulars' cameos too.

Lizzie Bennet Diaries

Meetings: diaphenia (Lizzie/Darcy, goes AU post ep 77)

Lizzie and Darcy and their feelings and the awkward really drew me in here.

The Philadelphia Story

Fed by Fables: alestar (Dinah, Mike, Tracy/C.K. Dexter, ensemble)

The premise of this – Dinah grows up to become a pulp SF writer, using what she’s lived through as material - fascinated me, and I loved how the two very different chapters explored it and related to each other. The voices in both!!! And then getting to read The Philadelphia Story in space and enjoying the adaptations. Brava!
