Nothing to do with this year's Yuletide! Fanvid and fic recs in the following fandoms: Battlestar Galactica (remake), Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers movies, Harry Potter and Hart of Dixie.
Battlestar Galactica (remake)
Easy Silence: Josette Arnauld (Helo/Athena)
I enjoyed this vid, in part because for me it was revisiting their relationship knowing everything, but the clips chosen go well with the mood of the song and the lyrics about the peace they find with each other even in the face of hostility. Obviously, those actors are so ugly, but I endured the hardship
Brooklyn Nine-Nine
Something suitable: birdbox (Amy/Jake)
This is an adorable early dating fic. Great characterisation; they're amusing but with deeper feelings coming through.
Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers movies
Dance Monkeys: cupidsbow
I enjoyed this vid so much: the way it was structured, the variety of styles of dancing, just how well Rogers and Astaire's wonderful dancing was cut to the music. Worth reading the notes for more context.
Harry Potter
An extract from "The Witch’s Guide to Pregnancy, Birth, and Baby Care", by Alarica Rosier. Chapter Nine: What if my Baby is a Squib?: Nineveh_uk (gen)
What a take-off of these types of books! But oh, how telling it is about the Wizarding World and social mores.
Hart of Dixie
March Prompts: aryas_zheral (gen and various ships, spoilers up to season 1, some of has been jossed)
This collection of ficlets (mainly one-sentence fics) features some of the best writing I've come across in HoD fandom so far. It’s not a 100% hit rate, but even the few that didn’t quite work for me offered a different perspective. Enjoy some Burt Reynolds POV, care-taking!Wade, intriguing AU teaser ‘Robots’, and feel your heart break for Harley.
