Strictly Come Dancing

Strictly – drafted before the results show

Probably my favourite dance of the night was Abbey’s foxtrot, although nothing affected me as powerfully as what Dave and Karen did – I don’t think you can say he danced, or certainly not well. But it was entertaining, with the judges' recations creating a sort of echo chamber.

Rachel’s paso was painful to watch, unfortunately. As was her disappointed little face as the judges couldn’t give much positive feedback.

I don’t think anyone changed my mind about them, really, I’m still wishing Bruce was off, enjoying Natalie but not being particularly supportive of her. On the other hand, I am urging Susanna and Sophie on – the latter she isn’t an actress, she comes off as cool, but that’s who she is, so there are some dances she’s not going to ‘embody’ like the actors, and Len is sometimes a stick in the mud. Darcey talked about her imaginary necklace and Len eventually snapped at the messing abaht – though I liked what Robin was trying to do with the Viennese Waltz, and at least it involved his pro moving. Which is to say, I can live with some messing abaht if it sets a mood.

I hadn’t known that Patrick was injured – by one of those stupid VTs! Apart from the ‘from Grimsby' one and the Abbey’s adorable moppet one, the best that could be said of the rest was that no-one else got injured – and so late in the week. He got a ‘fair play’ from me for that.

I still don’t know what I feel about the Japanese-themed pro dance to ‘Halo’. I can’t quite grasp what about that song made anyone think ‘JAPAN’. I am not sure if I thought what they did was appropriate (though we’ve already had a Cosack-themed twirl of ‘Ra-Ra-Rasputin’) even though some bits were pretty. Were I in a comic book, a thought bubble with !?!? would have been hovering over my head while that was on.

Claudia was aces.

Someone should teach Aliasz (sp?) to say ‘No’.

Earth, Wind and Fire...weren’t Chic, but once I got that snark aside, they and the dance were fun. I think It Takes Two may show Len singing along.

The results? Like Rachel, I thought she’d be in the bottom two and deserved to be. I wasn’t paying close enough attention to the leaderboard – all I’d spotted was that they’d given Fiona more than Sophie, so I was in a huff about that. I wasn’t in a position to phone, and even if I were, I might not have voted for Deborah. I agreed that that wasn’t the right bottom two and couldn’t see how the judges could have voted otherwise, but it was all rather horrible, because she has clearly fallen in love with dance, Patrick is one of the better men and he and Anya did the best they could with an extremely different situation.

At least, as per It Takes Two, it sounds like she (and her husband) will keep dancing. If they couldn't get Craig, they should have made a push for Darcey. There was a judge, explain yourself/detailed look back hole in the show.
