Back to talking about TV
OUAT 2.04 Crocodile
OHO, so they were sleeping together!
Quite a bit of a jumping all over the place to tell (more of) Rumpelstiltskin’s story.
Mila has some of Belle’s wanderlust, interestingly.
The guylinered pirate was hot, but I did not love the way he talked about Mila as if she were property (his, Rumpelstiltskin’s etc).
Every little glimpse we get of Ruby, she’s awesome. (I refrain from repeating this point. We'll pretend the continuity error with the hat never happened.)
LEATHER COAT LOVE!!!
Okay, the idea was funny, but Rumpelstiltskin referring to Charming and Snow as David and Margaret jarred, because Charming/Snow were moresuccesful than the Storybrooke Weepers. And then Charming says 'dating advice'. Wouldn't 'relationship advice' have been much more accurate? Thanks for making me nitpick that exchange instead of just enjoying it, show.
I’m always going to get very twitchy when Belle is abducted. And yes, she doesn’t know the full story, but her right to make her own choices and not to be given ultimatums (ultimata?) to is fair enough.
Is that the first time we’ve seen Rumpelstiltskin delve in and take someone’s heart?
I’d been spoiled that Hook was coming, but the clues weren’t subtle. Although Rumpeltsiltskin as the Crocodile (and the Beast. HE GAVE HER A LIBRARY.) is more like it.
Waah! Rumpelstiltskin told her about Baelfire. I've wanted that for so long (there is so much else and so much of it dark, but that's crucial.) And I can live happier with hamburger dates than what we had, because he hasn’t told her everything, not by a long shot.
Magic beans as a means to Neverland makes sense.
Oooh, Cora, in league with Hook (but surely they’ll bring in more of the Peter Pan characters before the reunion...)
Belle, and by extension Rumpelstiltskin, was more gripping than my One True Family (although we were focusing on the males this ep). I hope Charming does remember that he’s only part time sheriff.
2.5 The Doctor
Glad to see the four lady travellers as we had none of them in the last episode. Mulan’s face at the massacre!
Oh, naughty, naughty Hook.
Hmm, so they’re developing the magic = addiction thing hinted at in Rumpelstiltskin claiming it was his crutch.
I barely remember Daniel, as he didn’t register as much as what was going on between Regina, Snow and Cora. The return of the glass coffin imagery is cool.
Yes, young Regina, destroying an unicorn’s heart is bad. But powerful to see her being taught to do so by Rumpelstiltskin, and other firsts like her meeting Jefferson, who knew and worked for R first. And we’re getting confirmation of some definite rules about magic.
I...really doubt that Charming went through all this knight-steed bonding (do they really remember the backstory they gave him?)
But then they’re suddenly remembering Emma’s ability to know who’s telling the truth, which she lost around Cora.
Whale = Frankenstein then? But who’s his brother?
Zzzzombie Daniel. So, he believes Regina can love again.
And, as it was confirmed Whale = Victor (which has always been a theory given the names), the fact that I’ve never read the book or seen a Frankenstein movie (which I thought was Universal’s property, not Disney) matters. I’m also curious about how his world, which belongs to the horror genre, not fairy tales, fits into the whole thing. Granted, Jefferson and Hook are fairy tale adjacent, but still.
At some point Aurora is going to get to wear trousers, right, because she’s become The Girl.
Revenge 2.18 Masquerade
I might have had more to say if I’d been watching this on the computer and could type thoughts in the breaks (like I did with the OUAT episodes).
Gabriel Mann acted his little socks off with the help of the make-up department, but I cared more about Nolan helping Jack and telling Emily ‘I know, I love you too.’ Still, I’m interested in how long he’ll be snitty about the fact that the Initiative waited to kill Padma...until the day Aiden made his move. At Emily’s behest.
Did Aiden know that Trask had himself killed Colleen? No. Do I think the Initiative have truly left the Graysons go? No. The show will just figure out how to do the shady conspiracy better.
Apparently Daniel is clever. Heh.
What a weird masquerade! I’ve never been to a masked ball, but I’d have thought it was a basic requirement to put the masks on before you arrive.
