I said I'd be posting more recs soon. Fic recs in the following fandoms: The English. The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Society (book), Harry Potter, The Lord of the Rings and Poldark.
The English
Love Be Brave: fullborn (Cordelia/Eli, strong teen, canon-typical violence and themes)
I have to admit to approaching this reunion!fic with trepidation, as it’s the first The English fic I’ve read, but it surpassed all my hopes. Gorgeous writing, and so in keeping with the tone of the show, from the unexpected moments to the echoes of past events, to the familiarity of Cordelia and Eli’s interaction. Respect for the research and care that went into this.
The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Society (book)
Mutual Weaknesses Turned Into Strengths: Waistcoat35 (Juliet/Dawsey, etc)
In which Juliet writes to Sophie about her wedding.
This is altogether charming and rich. I chuckled and I loved that Juliet was so joyful.
Harry Potter
The Admixture of Blood: iulia_linnea (Draco/Luna ficlet, teen)
What’s this? A sighting of that rare beast, a credible Draco/Luna fic!? Draco’s POV is great, and there is so much to this despite the length.
The Lord of the Rings
Ocean Worn: Vintage Blue (phantasmagorienne) (Gandalf, ficlet)
This is a remarkable portrait of Gandalf. His meditations on time, physicality, the influence of Men and his wonder all feel so right.
Poldark
Happy and Healthy: ladydurin_x (Morwenna/Drake fluff)
This is utterly lovely - both Morwenna and Drake deserve this! I loved the signs of Caroline and Demelza's knindness, and the details are all spot on.
