2012 fic writing round up

Keeping Watch is a Push/The Losers crossover drabble in which Cassie and Cougar watch over Nick and Jensen, which was written for the (2011) three sentences ficathon. I think this is the first time I've ever written something about various characters played by one actor.

The Transfer. This is the longest fic I posted in 2012, I think I’d started writing it before - it’s essentially one long scene in which Layla finds out Warren is transferring from Sky High and has feelings that she doesn’t want to face about the news.

Coming right at you is Layla/Warren fluff inspired by something that happened on an episode of Castle. It’s further proof that I’m still not over Sky High, and I possibly needed to write fluff involving those two after 'The Transfer'.

Fraternisation (he won’t let you remember) is a kissfic(let) written after MIB3 and is, I think plausible about what could have happened between Agents O and K in the past.

please don’t take your sunshine away is set during 1.13 of Revenge and is about what’s going on in Jack’s head and his feelings for Amanda or who his drug-addled subconscious might recognise as Amanda.

With this ring came about after visiting comment_fic for inspiration (bless the prompter for her confused but kind feedback). It was a case of me seeing the prompt just after watching the Matthew Rhys-starring ITV adaptation of Daphne du Maurier’s The Scapegoat. It’s a lost moment set during canon, and so isn’t going to mean anything if you haven’t seen it. And I don’t think many people saw it (which is a shame!)

I closed the year with Little Black Dress for the prompt The Dark Knight Rises, Selina/Bruce, little black dress, again at comment_fic. This ficlet is pretty much what came to mind in the few hours after seeing and saving that prompt, so I wrote it up and reread it and posted it. It made me happy that I not only wrote something but wrote something about Selina.

The last five ficlets were all written very quickly and posted within days of doing so, the longest grazing 700 words. They were short, sharp bursts that made me happy, encapsulating my responses to canon or a prompt. I have started other stuff and edited it, but not had much time or energy to do so consistently and get somewhere. I did some writing over Christmas and did a happy dance at the completion of the first draft and because it was long for me. Of course, depending on my response when I go back to read it, it may never get posted.
