A look back at Community season 3

I finally watched everything on my Community season 3 DVD. As proof that I watched all the Community season 3 DVD commentaries – they led me to this vid JERLEY 4EVA! by thanatos101b (a Jeff/Shirley fanvid to the official Community shipper song). Granted, my laughing tailed off in the middle, but it’s worth sticking with to the very end.
(By the way, I hope to post a fanfic and fanvid recpost soon).
My favourite episodes were Remedial Chaos Theory (the one with the timelines); Foosball and Nocturnal Vigilanteism (the one with the Jeff and Shirley backstory/anime and Troy, Abed and Annie plus Abed as Batman); Contemporary Impressionists (Jeff hulks out and we see the cost of being Abed’s friend); Digital Exploration of Internal Design and Pillows and Blankets (aka the two parter of sorts where Greendale and also Troy and Abed split over pillows versus blankets and engaged in a soft furnishings civil war) and Virtual Systems Analysis (Abed vs. Annie).
The episode I liked least was the one that introduced Todd, mainly because of all the infighting between the group and how they turned on Todd, although the subplot involving the Dean and Chang, especially his ridiculous PI voice over, was hilarious.
Although I was a little disappointed with the final episodes – and it wasn’t because of the lack of paintball – there were a lot of really strong second tier episodes – Geography of Global Conflict (crisis alert!), Basic Lupine Urology (Law and Order), Course Listing Unavailable (STARBURNS! I was so happy he came back.) and Curriculum Unavailable.
There was a little more to this season than bad English accents, certainly. Looking back with the commentaries, yes, certain strands introduced in the beginning never went anywhere, but there was so much daftness and heart, not to mention stuff to geek out over. I understand that seasons 4 and 5 are weaker, so I'm tempted to buy both and watch them en bloc in a ripping off the plaster kind of way. I don't know if we'll be able to watch the upcoming season at the same time in the UK, so I probably won't do that forthwith.
Rather, as there's so little stuff on the box, even if we're getting Downton and Strictly teasers, which would be great, except they also mean that autumn is approaching, I'll probably turn next to Buffy's third season on DVD. I bought it, because it contains the only episode I never saw, 'Earshot'.
