shallowness: Sky High's Warren Peace smiling (Warren Peace smiles!)
After finishing watching Scorpion on DVD last year, I watched Gilmore Girls season 5 next.

Here's what I thought about it )

[Edited on 25/7/22 to add some things and tidy others up.]
shallowness: Sky High's Warren Peace smiling (Warren Peace smiles!)
I thought ‘Dumbster Fire’ was weak, ’Foul Balls’ a little better, and ‘Dork Day Afternoon’ and ‘Gator Done’ more like it, though not as good as ‘Nerd, Wind and Fire’, for reference.

Having said that, I doubt that I’ll see it in the cinema – I’m going to miss The Batman and the opportunity to rank it among the other Batman films, even though it features Catwoman and an intriguing cast. But it sounds like its aesthetic is not very me friendly ATM.

But disc 4 of Scorpion season 4:

I liked ‘Wave Goodbye’ less than ‘The Hunker Games’ and ‘Lighthouse of the Risng Sun’, and I liked ‘Nerd, Wind and Fire’ more than the other three.

The four eps on this disc got better from ‘It’s Raining Men of War’, to ‘Crime Every Mountain’ to ‘Who Let The Dog Out (Cause Now It’s Stuck in a Cistern’ and ‘A Christmas Car-roll’.

Sorry (not sorry) for posting twice, but it occurred to me that Yuletide will be opening tomorrow, although these are all fanvid recs. They're in the following fandoms: Downton Abbey, Marvel Cinematic Universe, The Mummy, Pacific Rim and The Princess Bride.

Strictly Week 10

Found out on Friday that Cynthia would be back as a replacement judge but in a different seat because Motsi had a COVID contact/wrong vaccine/lives in Germany but Craig would be back.

It figures that when I posted about the Strictly results on Monday morning, It Takes Two had some interesting stuff. Read more... )

Also, I forgot to do this last week, but Dean Stockwell passed away, and having just finished watching him in BSG, I was touched. I first knew him from Quantum Leap – not that I watched it avidly, bt I saw a few episodes - and then several years later when I watched the The Thin Man sequels, there wee!Dean Stockwell was playing Nick and Nora’s kid. Having read his obit, that isn’t a anything like representative of his career.

This is really behind the times, I watched these episodes on DVD ages ago. I should say that the DVD case is plastered with ‘The Final Season’, and I knew nothing much about its content. I’d avoided the fandom after I failed to watch the third season when it aired on TV, and even more so as I worked my way through the DVDs in 2020-21.

Disc 1

I preferred the season opener Extinction’ to the other three episodes on this disc.

I’ve started watching Miss Scarlet and the Duke. It was sold as being inspired by Sherlock, which is stretching it beyond, perhaps, the opening credits where Miss Scarlet is eleventy times bigger than ‘the Duke’, because otherwise it’s your female private detective in a sexist historical period show. Said period is Victorian, so the show is so less well lit than if it were in the twentieth century.

spoilers for the first two eps )
