There’s no point in doing the fic writing meme separately. The only fanfiction that I posted last year can be found here. ( About that. )

TWW: Fiction, fiction, fiction
Nov. 7th, 2024 08:27 amI watched these two episodes last week and would have posted this over the weekend, before You Know What happened, but I was posting about Strictly. I will say I absolutely blew up out of all proportion when It Takes Two announced the return of the Danceathon on the show. I think it’s a terrible idea, I can tell you right now that Aljiaz and Tasha will get full marks and Chris and Dianne will get the lowest marks, but that’s just five minutes of ‘chaos as entertainment’. I was not really angry about it. I haven't felt able to comment on the sad and angry posts appearing on my friends page as someone who is not from the USA.

TWW: Fortuitous timing?
Sep. 13th, 2024 08:05 amFWIW, I watched these episodes in August, typed up my reaction, but it took a while to catch up on the podcasts, and then a Presidential debate happened. The timing wasn’t really as serendipitous as it seemed.
7.7 The Debate (West Coast) (apparently the second run because they did two) (watched on a DVD that’s probably a region 2 DVD).

Two other things and The West Wing
Jul. 20th, 2024 03:41 pmBeen a while, hasn't it? First, I’m giving up on Fallout (just as it gets nominated for an Emmy! Typical.) I basically forced myself to watch the fourth episode, and the balance between gore (and squick) versus plucky survivor Lucy’s journey/quest wasn’t working for me. Not even with the sardonic humour.
Secondly, the recent Strictly news has been dismaying. Graziano is the latest to go, following Giovanni. There may be more. Er, weren’t the producers watching the footage at the time? Presumably through ‘This show is too big to rock the boat’ goggles. Will chaperones (and bringing Aljiaz back) be enough? I feel torn, I have a lot invested in the show, not least the sparkle it brings as autumn settles and turns into winter. I can also grasp that people of different temperaments and backgrounds can take tough talk and treatment from competitive perfectionists differently. So there may be some grey areas. But kicking is not on, and ‘that’s the way I was taught’ is not an argument in favour of abuse, which can be psychological and behavioural. And proper safeguarding is non-negotiable, not even on the most popular show on British TV.
The West Wing
I came across a season 7 DVD boxset cheaply in a charity shop, so I’ll be watching from that from now on.

Please note, I’m rewatching these episodes, so there are vague references to things that will happen later in the series. (Although I only remember the big stuff for sure, and then random stuff, which leaves a lot that I’ve forgotten.)
