shallowness: Kira in civvies looking straight ahead (Nashville irresistible Juliette Barnes)
[personal profile] shallowness
Last night, I caught up on Nashville 3.2 How Far Down Can I Go

Scarlett’s reminder to a heartbroken Uncle Deacon to keep putting one foot forward was sweet, although I don’t think her current issues with Gunnar are on the same level as Deacon’s over Rayna.

Will is encroaching on Rayna’s career, which was somewhat forgotten last week. His missus is not going to challenge Juliette’s burgeoning acting career, given how bad she is at faking stuff for the reality TV show.

How long before Emily twigs that Juliette is pregnant?

Boo, Jeff Fordham, I hope your new-to-us boss is your nemesis.

You’d think Rayna would have more of a clue about album sales in the mid tweens music industry. I know they were going for Miss Used to Platinum, but she should have done some looking about her before setting up her label, not to mention have some clue that artists make their money through live tours these days. Of course, that fact - and about half of the characters are about to leave Nashville for a tour again - makes the show way less about Nashville as a city than, er, a state of mind?

Deacon discovers how much of a teenager his daughter is, and proves that despite his broken heart, he can still be amused.

I was also amused at Juliette’s reaction to Avery’s boots and hearing her own songs, and put-upon!, heartbroken and possibly still hungover Avery.

SIIIIGH: Scarlett/Gunnar singing a song they wrote together. Happy place. I’d feel more sorry for Zoe if she wasn’t dating her best friend’s ex. Because when was that going to be easy?

Yeah, Deacon probably shouldn’t have told their daughter he proposed to Rayna, but, without a Daphne, he still managed to communicate with her.

And as if worrying about being second best in her personal life wasn’t enough, Zoe is finding being a back-up singer hard, mainly because of the dancing.

Oh, Deacon, Luke so wants you on his tour so he can keep an eye on you. Business schmusiness.

Poor Jeff Fordham’s assistant. I daresay she’ll turn, much like Layla has on Will.

Juliette/Avery’s fight was AWESOME in an immature, emotions-flying-about way. Poor rebound girl.

Ah, Rayna and Luke are thrashing out what their values are. Okay.

I loved that Scarlett’s mini-freakout wasn’t about the songwriting per se, but that she did recognise that she was falling back into old patterns – and how easy it is for both of them, and for Gunnar to start doing the puppy dog eyes – and chose to pull back for her own sake. Now Gunnar should start to own what's going on...

Tandy leaving came out of nowhere this episode! Aren’t things going wonderfully with Rayna’s record label?

I’d been spoiled that the baby was Avery’s, so I wasn’t invested in that whole question. Actually, very little of the drama is that gripping, hence the flippancy. But Juliette/Avery was involving, we had a snippet of Scarlett/Gunnar duetting and I was amused by a lot of other stuff. In fact, something that drew me in more might have been too much, so carry on, Nashville.
