Things that are unlikely to happen on Downton in the last series:
EDITH IS HAPPY. LIKE DANCING WITH MARIGOLD IN THE GARDENS, BELLY-LAUGHING IN THE DINING ROOM, PRODUCING AN EDITION OF THE MAGAZINE THAT IMPRESSES EVERYONE AND BEING PROUD OF HERSELF, SNOGGING A SINGLE, AVAILABLE MAN HAPPY.
Lord Grantham goes to the kitchen and makes his wife breakfast and carries it all the way upstairs to bed.
Mary is left alone, with no man in attendance (Carson having left Downton with Mrs Hughes without a backward glance, and Bates or Thomas or whoever replaces him doesn't care so much).
Daisy moves to the farm and says ‘You know what, I should have done this a DECADE ago.’
The Dowager Countess’s secret identical twin sister (well, Elsie Hughes had a secret sister) turns up. Even Robert is shocked, but Lady Violet says ‘she married a Scotsman. What do you expect?’ She gives her name as Mrs McGonagall.
The pigs run wild indoors.
There’s a fancy dress party and Robert is wearing a tricorn. Ross Poldark sweeps in (in slo-mo) and picks it off him, saying ‘Mine, I believe.’
I wanted to come up with ten, but I stalled. Anyone else have any suggestions?
