Ha, I outwitted Dave’s player to watch the episodes in order!
4.15 Dave Returns
Aww, April clearly finds Andy’s nonsense ‘hot’. (I'm not being sarcastic.) Putting him in charge of the campaign song was perfect, because I can well believe he’d be terrible at everything else, but the instinct to get everyone singing on it was sweet.
The return of Duke Silver and Ron’s attempts to hide the fact that it’s him made me grin.
But I was cringing a bit at Ben’s fear of cops leading to the most unfortunate verbal gaffes, but add that to the return on Dave (Louis C K plays him perfectly, his to-camera monologues sounded like a man who’s filed many a police report) and I was cackling.
Shut up, Chris’s face. You don’t get to be dog in the mangerish about Ann dating someone else. That that person is Tom, I still don’t get, because ‘most everything about him gets on her nerves (understandably) and she keeps addressing him as ‘Dude’. That line about being familiar with women being mad at him rang true!
Chris’s singing was hilarious, though.
April is the best assistant for Ron, ever, and if property gets destroyed and Jerry hurt in service of his need for secrecy, who cares? Loved how Ron stepped in to save overthinking!Andy’s song. Which Leslie will love.
I thought Leslie had the greatest right to freak out over Dave’s pronouncement, not Ben. The whole handcuffing business was perfect, especially because Ben could and did simply call her. BTW, Dave, although you’re sweet, but disturbing, even despite his weird and cringe-y behaviour around cops, it makes perfect sense why she’d choose him.
4.16 Sweet Sixteen
So it’s Leslie vs. Ron, and Ron’s going to win, because he’s right (but not about her cardigan being a sweater...or do Americans count cardigans sweaters too?)
Yes, Chris, you should rescue the dog from Andy. I loved the idea that he did so much with and for Champion in one night.
Alas, poor Jerry (or is it Gerry, because his name’s Gary). I thought his wife, at least, loved and respected him.
Donna’s family place was gorgeous.
Yes, yes, it is ridiculous that after being completely inappropriate most of the time but somehow pulling on Ann’s heartstrings by his needy cluelessness, Tom is the one who thinks she’s crossed a line. Funny? Not really.
April deciding to get drunk in response to all their calls for advice was, though.
Also Signtology.
And we got Ron’s sheet metal/leather at middle school story on the way to getting Leslie to cut back her hours for sleep and Adam Scott’s delivery of ‘You slept with Gerry’ when Leslie slumbered all over him.
I preferred the previous episode.
