Gina told you so

Brooklyn Nine-Nine 3.03-3.04
Terry’s face as he realised the spider was on his head was a great lead-in into the titles.
I liked the plot where Holt asked Amy to be the poster girl for the NYPD, although it was mainly funny because of Gina.
Are they going to be setting Charles up repeatedly with actresses I know and like from other stuff - this time, Chloe from 24? I was expecting her character to be a defence lawyer, but the plot that emerged was fun, especially because I’m about as much of a philistine over modern art as Peralta.
While I adored angry!Rosa vs the Scully and Hitchcock, food thieves in theory, in execution, I dunno. There were some good moments - one being Terry having to carry Rosa bodily away from the other two before she killed them, but the build-up felt forced. Maybe if we’d seen her inital realisation they’d nicked her ice-cream instead of hearing about it alongside Terry?
There was a bit of exposition dumping in this episode and the next (and the first two of the season), BUT they finally found a way of getting rid of the Vulture and, more importantly, returning Holt to his precinct. I liked that it was Jake who found a way with his lateral thinking detective skills.
I very much like that Jake/Amy is humming along nicely in the background (the sticker she made to cheer him up! Gina then saying it’s a bit like dating a teacher and Jake being so in love that he finds it hot.)
So ep 4 was the stronger episode, maybe. The return of the Holt-Peralta dynamic on a serial killer case with a silly name just felt right. Add Gina to that – the line about the advanced psychology class and them all being obsessed with her was so perfect, because it speaks to the narcissism and so forth that would make them obsessed with her. Also that wolfy jumper! Wardrobe have definitely taken the spirit animal and run with it.
Boyd accidentally making Terry chubby worked mainly as a call-back, while I just liked Amy and Rosa hanging out in shared Vulture hate more than what they did with it – I had a niggly feeling that the timing of the birthday party did not align with the time the secret detectives were taking on their case.
But, anyway, Holt is back, and I hope the show is fully back in its groove from now on.
