shallowness: Catwoman looking at the Batsign in the Gotham City night sky (Catwoman watching Batverse films)

OUaT 1.20 The Stranger

I was surprised by how emotionally involved I was by this episode. Okay, it was probably the parallels drawn with Emma-Henry, but still. I’d been spoiled that August=Pinocchio for a while, so I was just glad to get that out there, yes, yes, the habitual liar set off against the woman who claims that her superpower is to determine whether you’re setting off the truth, I see what they did there. I liked desperate! and admitting his failures!Pinocchio and what Gepetto did (although like a lot of the fairy tale relationships, I thought they rushed it,) BUT I didn’t hate CGI Pinocchio in the storm. At least we’ve moved on from writer’s room self-insert and, even if I still think this is a retcon fixit for ditching Graham/the Huntsman, sending Pinocchio back with Emma and having him fail her (because in what world could a seven year old boy successfully look after a baby?) was good.

I got really excited that Emma and he left Storybrooke. Of course, Henry can too, but I doubt he’ll let Emma run very far.

Speaking of rush jobs, Regina making a move on David. Oy. Up until then I was having fun calling him an idiot and watching him be drawn into her web.

I then watched most of the concert part of the closing ceremony. My jaw dropped quite a lot – I enjoyed Annie Lennox’s homage to the Vikings and Vivienne Westwood or whatever that was, and laughed at Always Look At The Bright Side. Ed Sheeran's sincerity made me switch channels.

This afternoon, I went to see The Dark Knight Rises again and maybe enjoyed it more this time around because I didn’t have expectations to deal with. Anne Hathaway’s Selina really is A1. I don’t think I mentioned my reaction last time to Bruce’s Logan Cale-esque exoskeleton – I had it under control this time. I presume he puts it in the Batsuit. When I get the film on DVD, I’m watching it with subtitles, though, and it isn’t just Tom Hardy as Bane, Oldman and Bale mumbled when given the opportunity. And then, I rewatched ‘Introduction to Statistics’ and laughed myself silly/

(Insta-rec – the rec part because it is awesome and the instant part because it uses ‘ItS’ footage. A Different Kind of Love Song by giandujakiss which celebrates how fannish behaviour has played out on our screens.)

Right, switching to the headspace to read all the Bat/Cat fic.
