I've been holding off reading your comments on this show until I finally got around to watching the first two episodes this afternoon.
It IS awfully nice to see Tom Hiddleston on the small screen again and though I did think Pine was way over his head in Cairo, it's amazing what his character could do in Devon. But now that there's been a bit of backstory to him, I guess it makes a bit more sense.
Loved Hugh Laurie in House but I found his character in Spooks more interesting though he wasn't in it enough for my tastes. :-)
Definitely agree with you about Samira/Sophie -- I didn't find it realistic enough that she would reveal Roper's plans to a hotel night manager of all people. And in this age, I would think she's smart enough to come up with a better plan than that.
