Agents of SHIELD 3.21 Absolution
I refuse to play the ‘which member of the team will be killed’ game, which involves following the crucifix. Partly because I have a strong Doylian suspicion about who it is. Again, we had to follow the team on a mission not knowing most of what they’d planned. I thought they were quite smart about Hive, and even deserved to celebrate, until they brought him to the base. Memory machine or no, that was asking for trouble.
Mainly, Daisy was lost in self-recrimination, when she had been brain-washed to the nth degree, as everyone kept telling her. I was glad that they were dealing with the consequences of what she’d been through and done. But it was obvious by the end that she was staying there of her own volition by how easily she got out (maybe someone should have been tasked with keeping an eye on her!? Although there was a lot going on). At first it looked like she was all anger and wanting retribution, but there was also the craving for the sway. I’m not sure where she’s at emotionally, I don’t think she knows either, but saving her team is a part of it too.
Coulson and May were pretty sound. Hannah played off SHIELD beautifully.
I’d have got irritated with Mack too. I still think you could read more into Mack’s feelings for his partner.
Linc ought to talk to Daisy, at least. (I don’t think Hive swayed him from the way their encounter was filmed, so I hope there’s no flashback claiming that he did. In fact, my thinking is that Hive is too weakened to use the Sway at the moment.) Linc’s decision not to be an agent, now that he’s won everyone over and controlled his powers in very trying circumstances makes sense (except he’s pretty; I don’t want him to go), but just accepting what Hive said about Daisy not needing him was a bit much. And maybe it is Daisy that’s at root of his not wanting to be an agent, so maybe it won’t stick.
Simmons saved Fitz who is a very fast and accurate typist also! There was a little concern there, although the crucifix in his pocket suggested being up in Daisy’s vision and dying there, not being turned into ‘a Primitive’. The discussion about the holiday and the oddball ‘I can too be romantic! We’re going SNORKELLING!’ was sweet.
I am continuing to be impressed by Dalton when he’s given ‘crazy because of reliving memories’ to do. I didn’t expect that.
Absolution wasn’t the name of the town that they took over, was it? Ah well, someone forgot to put it in Google maps when they were following it up, or something. I.e. I didn’t get the big deal.
In other news, I have discovered that there are three more episodes of Scorpion, which I will lap up soon, even though I have been spoiled for one big thing.
