Blindspot 1.7

Mayflower is called Mayfair. The grumpy one is called Reid or Reed.

They brought in Lou Diamond Phillips to play a character who spend most of the episode snarkily commentating on the four agents’ dynamics. He especially got to Jane, who turns out to know how to fly a helicopter.

The episode started with Tree Arm and some other guy burying a metal case, six months ago, hoping that the right people would find it. The mind boggles at the elaborateness of all this, but they really, really wanted Mr Daylight (Lou Diamond Phillips’s character, because of course I didn’t take in his character’s name) in the clutches of the FBI. Weller then found out that Mayfair had been lying about him, and she started spilling about Daylight (how truthfully might be a question he should consider). As for her line that only three people in the world know about it, well, I’d suggest not, given who’s behind the tats.

I liked that Jane took ownership of the tats in this episode. While the four (the three agents and Jane) went into a renegade county and happened upon a most wanted criminal, Patterson’s habit of taking her work home had escalated into a wall of tats, which cute, non-listening boyfriend David saw as puzzles. So, the little naif went to a location all by himself. Given the penchant of the tats to lead to people who like to fight or blow things up, Patterson didn’t squawk loudly enough, but joined him in geeking out. (I hope that we’ll find out more about the codes in the book.) They got busted by Mayfair, not bad people with guns etc. Thus the whole ‘can I move in?’ conversation turned into an ‘I choose my job’ dumping, which is sad. But not as tragic as what I was imagining, though it’s more than possible we haven’t seen the last of him.

After a bit of distancing on his side, which is probably still fall-out from the previous episode, Kurt and Jane shared a moment on the flight back, which was about as unprofessional as what Tasha called him out on.

With the way the team split up and a few moments between Tasha and Jane, the team dynamic between the action quartette developed.

I was unable to watch Berlin Station live, so I'll have to catch up with it as soon as I can.
