I was hoping to read your comments on this. I watched thinking 'I've read this fanfic'. (And may have used some of the inaccuracies in my recent Thorin Oakenshield/Bilbo Baggins Regency AU - although that hasn't been televised.) Yes to the absence of maids. Charlotte appears too perfect (I'd almost accuse her of being a Mary Sue). I knew about pineapples - lots of the houses we visit have ornamental pineapples as a sign of their wealth.
Totally agree re Forehead and Chin - presumably the stepfather adopted the stepdaughter and gave her his surname. And also re crudity (why is this necessary - oh yes it's Andrew Davies) and Anne Reid needing good dialogue. It wouldn't be a historical programme without anachronisms to complain about ;)
