shallowness: Fred and Ginger dancing in foregroud, him in tails, her in a dark gown, background a white circle (moon or spotlight) (Fred and Ginger dancing)
[personal profile] shallowness

So, I suppose that was a selection from Into The Heights – I only know it was what Miranda wrote before Hamilton – offering fun street scenes, some contrasts, Janette because nobody flies in the air like Janette and guest headspinners. Not iconic because the film and musical aren’t that well known.

Enter TessnClaud in black, Tess had toned the style right down, I liked the detailing of Claudia’s dress. Shirley and Anton seemed to have dressed down, relatively, while Motsi maintained her love affair with the metallic.

I didn’t get why they’d called Robert safe ‘in no particular order’ along with three of the top four until I was reminded that he’d had to wait the longest last week.

Okay, I suspect I’ve messed up the running order, but deeply unsurprising that Motsi got to expand on Rhys’s dance or that Anton was called upon to praise Rose’s foxtrot, and I called Craig being asked to discuss John, although I do not understand why it wasn’t framed as ‘Why didn’t you give it a 10?’ or at least that that was a chaser after he gave all the positives. Shirley and Craig had a spat over Tom’s feet, while Craig protested that that wasn’t the bit he’d been talking about. (Amy would, of course, agree with Shirley on ITT.)

I don’t know why they tortured John and Johannes so long, because there was no way they weren’t safe. But then I was surprised they didn’t let Tom stew with the third batch. Ack, Judi was red lighted and I was made to wish I’d called (on week 3? Stop it, Strictly.) (Maybe I should start voting online.) Her future genuinely depended on who she was facing.

Ben Platt wasn’t very good at the quiet bits, I resented having to turn the volume up, but the dancing was nice. I chuckled at one bit of overly literal choreography, the lifts were great after one totally deliberate-I’m-sure stutter, and then he could sing loudly with backing singers/part of a gospel choir.

The voters totally saved Adam and Dan. Hmm, we need to start putting the male celebs in trouble, VP, and it was inevitably Katie, who had scored the same as Judi. I couldn’t call it – I wanted Judi and Grazziano to go through, obviously, and I noticed that Katie was actually doing an American Smooth. Interesting that the judges’ comments didn’t match and that Anton bounced the decision to Shirley again.

From the ITT interview with Katie and Gorka, there was a lock of talk about the lack of time for rehearsal, to which: WE KNOW. That’s why we didn’t vote for you (also the pitch of Katie’s voice and accent would have become annoying to me in a few weeks’ time.) Also, Gorka got to the final last year.
