I've reached the point where I won't watch anything that relies on the buddy/bromance dynamic.
I rarely do, which means there's a lot of stuff I pass over. And when I do, I'm probably watching it wrong, from the entertainment industry/makers' perspective (or the traditional slasher perspective, actually.)
What's more, defining the deep affection and mutual dependence between partners as the purview of men reinforces the stupid "Women = Sex trope that's ruined so many otherwise promising stories.
It's just so limiting, and it's dressing up the sexism. You use the word 'coyly' and it describes the modern take on bromances to a T. And it's disingenuous and offputting.
I'd never come across 'brogrammers' before. Noooo, that's not being exclusionary. Not at all.
