shallownessFinal recs post of the year. All fic (none from this year's Yuletide as I've only saved links to read, and it's me. I'm more likely to rec fics that are years old. Oh, one of them is from last year's Yuletide.)
DC Cinematic Universe
Now A Different Measure Try: tielan Gen. (post Dawn of Justice, but takes Wonder Woman into account)
Diana meets Alfred and learns more about Bruce and both men learn more about Diana. I very much enjoyed this, how it conveyed Diana's way of thinking, indetieed, that these were all intelligent people feeling each other out. A lot of astute observations that made me go 'Ah, of course'.
Fairy Tales
Untitled poem fill for the prompt ‘Any fairy tale, Any princess/daughter/etc., The Mirror Shatters’: tigriswolf, OFCs, the Magic Mirror
Chilling.
Harry Potter
Residue: Lisarel (Ginny-centric, post Chamber of Secrets, slight Ginny/Harry)
Achingly plausible* - the books did gloss over what nust have been a very damaging and difficult experience to deal with and heal from. I loved how Ginny had valid reasons for coping (or not coping) as she did, how every family member showed different degrees of helpfulness and the various things that would trigger her that summer in Egypt.
*Except for the major caveat that this needed a Britpicker badly.
Into the Woods
The woods are just trees; the trees are just woods: marginaliana, gen
This sympathetic coda/continuation about mothers and children has a nifty, believable premise and I loved the language, how it echoes the rhythms of the musical, I could hear all the characters.
Little Women
The Palace Beautiful (Valley of the Shadow of Death Remix): MiraMira (gen, ficlet, space AU, Marmee POV)
Lovely, with a perfect Marmee voice (it’s based on THE Little Women in space fic, Beth Finds the Palace Beautiful, previously recced, which I’d urge you to read first, although having reread it, I‘ll warn for prescient references to viruses.)
