shallownessSo, ideally, CBS should have given Scorpion its final season (even if it were curtailed) and here’s a list of what I think Scorpion season 5 should have contained.
1. The team is back together at the end. This is non-negotiable, it’s the crux of why I’m so mad that the show got cancelled.
2. Before then, sure, go after Scorpion 2.0 and Centipede doing different cases, and being reminded of how they need each other.
3. Then have them unite to Save The World while still bickering.
4. Cabe is the obvious one to try to bring his kids back together.
5. There should be an episode where how Walter met and brought Happy, Sly and Toby into Scorpion is germane to the present crisis. And we see Happy and Toby first meet.
6. Walter apologises to everyone. And fully understands what for. Ralph may have to explain some of it to him.
7. After season 4, I’m still tilting towards Waige getting back together, although I could live with an open but hopeful ending so long as the team reunited. (If they were going to explore Walter/Flo, I would hope it would be a flop fast. I could live with Sylvester/Florence - I like Flo fine, especially because she has her own work, I think she deserves better than someone who’s hung up on someone else (Walter) and someone who’s too scared to tell her how he feels (Sly). If Sly/Florence were a thing, him literally picking her up, preferably when she’s spoiling for a fight with someone else, again would be a must. Things with Waige are iffier, but at heart I’m a shipper and I want them to work it out, for Walter to grow enough to realise there are degrees of attraction and how to manage them. The lack of mental stimulation Paige provides him is an issue I’d like them to face, although I think they both need to learn to compromise more, communicate better and accept that they don’t have to do everything as a couple. The fact that she doesn’t want him to be miserable says a lot, I think some of the stuff she said about lectures and him not being able to hang with her friends was venting. I also think some of Paige’s reaction comes from feelings of unworthiness that are a mix of her mother abandoning her and knowing full well she isn’t as smart as he is. I think they (especially Walter) need a lot of work to get to a functional romantic relationship that learns from past mistakes, but I think it could be done over a season’s arc.
8. This is my list, so at least more musical numbers, if not a musical episode. Actually, there would totally be a MUSICAL EPISODE.
9. They all dress up in Super Fun Guy costumes again
10. Quintis adopt a genius kid - because it would be great for the kid and SO CUTE.
11. Ray returns, possibly in an altered state episode just to be random. Cooper also returns, mainly because I first started watching the show when she was around, and so was super aware of her just…vanishing, so this is entirely personal. But there could be a really good reason for her disappearing and the team(s) are eeeded to help with it, I thought about having Tim return, but frankly snore. Veronica could return. And Elia for Walter to destroy something else of his.
12. Walter’s algorithm finds a suitable match for Ada (Don’t Burst My Bubble) and she can come to the garage and see them all and hug Happy. I think we all deserve that win.
13. Mark Collins returns in a plot involving Ralph, because that would cause so much angst for Walter and the team, although ultimately the fact that Ralph is smarter and a better person than Collins would be pivotal
14. Walter has to use his ‘you’re going to be technically dead’ move ON PAIGE, and even though she trusts him (and there is discussion of who looks after Ralph just in case) Walter finally has to really face up to the ramification of this move of his.
15. The final episode contains some callbacks to the pilot, ending with the team (and Walter and Ferret Bueller) moving to new, bigger and better premises.
As you can see, this list contains hardly any stunts, scenarios or locations OR SCIENCE.
