shallowness2.15 Leslie’s House
No, the state of Leslie’s house didn’t remind me of anything. (Andy will translate.)
I sort of love the way Ron excused himself ‘I’m going because I don’t want to be here anymore’. It engenders a teeny bit of jealousy every time he does something like that.
And I wonder if we’ll meet the biscuit-making French-kissing boy ever (the more we see of Justin, the less sense he makes with Leslie) or Leslie solving a murder on a train.
2.16 Galentine’s Day
Had an ‘oh, so that’s what it is’ moment about Galentine’s Day – I’d seen it in Februarys gone past and known only that it was a popculture reference that was flying over my head.
The biggest laugh was, I think, an inadvertent one (I can’t claim to know the exact timings of Anniston’s love life) or certainly extrinsic with Leslie coming out as a Brad/Jennifer shipper. There were several other laughs of course, from the Duke Silver fans puncturing the moment where he was really insightful about Justin to Tom’s response to the break up. I also really liked the detail that Justin’s car was filthy.
But it was mainly about the relationships and in a bittersweet vein, from Ann realising that she and Mark are in a functional relationship, but that’s only fine. I don’t think Andy is someone she should be turning back to. I mean, his influence on April – rejecting the 15 layers of irony is good! – is fine, and I sort of want her to make a move, but he can’t be more than a stepping stone. Meanwhile, I couldn’t make myself feel sorry for Tom, despite his evident feelings for Wendy...because the music choice and the attempted blackmailing got in the way.
And then I watched HIGMNFY and the funniest bits were the ones that I'd caught during The Mentalist's breaks on Friday (the portal/wormhole/vortex in Brighton!)
