Fanfiction recs in the following fandoms: Marvel Cinematic Universe, Once Upon a Time, Salt and The Vast of Night. Plus an original fic rec.
Marvel Cinematic Universe
Sleep: theflon (Vision/Wanda, long, teen like canon is)
I really enjoyed this. I found Vision's POV so plausible, and there's a lovely balance between philosophy and emotion and discovery.
Once Upon A Time
Dirty Laundry: luchia (Belle/Rumpelstiltskin, OFC, teen for swearing)
This provides great answers to questions I never thought to ask before. I love how it adds more layers of folklore/mythology to a canon that's already multilayered. The characterisation, particularly the exploration of Belle through an outsider's perspective, is good, and the OFC was fully realised. And the love story was handled with delicacy.
Original Fic
Mind of Steel, Heart of Gold: platinum_firebird (Original human girl, Original monster)
A girl befriends the monster under her bed, and it’s delightful, as we and they learn more about each other’s characters mainly via dialogue. Some interesting world-building going on too.
Salt
He Knows Better: Jedi Buttercup (Peabody/Salt drabble)
The writing is so sharp and convincing here. (It’s Peabody appreciating Evelyn more than requited.)
The Vast of Night
a deep but dazzling darkness: Lirazel (Fay/Everett, post movie, kinda AU, kinda fix-it but maybe not, long)
It did my heart good to read this. The tone and the voices are so good, and it deals with their trauma and how their relationship develops beautifully and plausibly.
