Fanvid and fanfiction recs in the following fandoms: Dredd, Mission Impossible movie series, Pacific Rim, Singin' in the Rain and Spinning Silver.
Dredd
Sooner or later: Khayr (Anderson, Dredd, pre-Dredd/Anderson)
I really enjoyed how this subverted expectations (mine and Anderson’s.)
Mission Impossible movie series
Bullet with Butterfly wings: ohvienna (Ilsa Faust vidlet, canon-typical violence, spoilers for Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning part 1)
What a compelling portrait/celebration of Ilsa this is! The music strikes the right attitude, the editing of the action was so fluid and nicely balanced by quieter moments.
Pacific Rim
Danger Zone: colls (Mako/Raleigh vidlet)
Has the right bombast for the action, smart editing that keeps it moving, and the ending is just a joy.
Singin' In The Rain
Style: Tafadhali (Don/Kathy)
So delightful! I loved the apt conceit behind this vid, the lyrics are perfect for Don and Kathy, and the cover was in just the right, well, style.
Spinning Silver
Savor: Phlyarologist (Mirnatius/Irina, post book)
This is so layered and in character; it earns its hopefulness.
