So, like I said, another double bill of Orphan Black felt like too much for last night, and there was no Agents of SHIELD as Marvel expected us all to go to the cinema and watch Thor 2, so I caught up with Atlantis, episode 1.5, White Lies instead.
I didn't think much of it, apart from Sarah Parish camping it up as Pasiphae and a hint of a backstory that she made Midas plot with her to steal the throne, hinting why he’s such an oblvious king, beneath the story of Therus.
Otherwise, Ariadne is on the verge of coming of age, but acting like a twelve year old around Jason. Oh, kids (O’Donnell was quite funny, though). I have thought there's a bit too much disconnect between the actors' ages and the way the characters act like they were on a CBBC show, at times.
And then there was a lot of business with a dung beetle, some of which was quite funny. But in another example of wondering why they bothered making Jason from our time, there was a Beatles joke begging to be made.
I forlornly wished that Medusa had been dragged into the scheming to help Ariadne, although Ariadne's maid was quite good.
I’d rather Medusa/Pythagoras than Medusa/Hercules -> snake hair.
Ariadne was almost queenly, ordering her brother around. If she can stop spoiling the effect by saying ‘please’, she might make a good monarch. Or a better one than her brother. Quite right of Jaon to be horrified at his behaviour.
Dear Oracle,
You’re safe until the emotional moment where you tell Jason you’re his mother and ‘walking with the dead’ doesn’t mean dead dead any more than 'lost at sea' did.
Yours,
hoping it's a while yet,
