this is not my hope

I'm going to be spammy about TV that I've watched and what I thought, because at the end of an extremely busy working week, my broadband died on me - after this I am having a Borgen double-bill, oh yes.
Meanwhile, 9 o'clock on a Tuesday night seems to be THE slot for shows I want to watch, so most of what I'm catching up on was originally aired then. Like The Mentalist
6.3 Wedding in Red
Whoa, they’re getting around to stuff I thought they were always going to put off this season. I’ve never been more than mildly bothered about Wayne and Grace, although I thought both actors did a lovely job with what they were given here. Van Pelt/Rigsby have faced some ham-fisted obstacles, as we were reminded. (I was also reminded that some of my fave episodes have involved hallucinations like that time Grace faced up to the psychopath Friend of Red John fiancee).
Given that Van Pelt/Rigsby is the ship that's allowed to get all the action, while Lisbon/Jane is only half-acknowledged, it was interesting that we got so much of Lisbon’s reaction to the distraction/proposal – I’d have gone for Cho for the laughs.
I then spent the wedding wondering where Ben was – wouldn’t you have thought Wayne would want his son to be there? I mean, for all that it happened in Napa, Grace clearly popped home for her gown. I almost wrote fic about this, but then realised that I don't care enough about Grace Van Pelt's feelings to spare time I don't have.
I was also wondering where Jane was throughout the ceremony. Well, we got the answer to that, eventually. Flippantly enough, I'm glad he wasn't allowed to officiate this one. Also Lisbon wasn’t wearing the hideous pink monstrosity she was meant to wear at Van Pelt's wedding.
Both the case of the week and the investigation of the Red John suspect were a bit blah. I could see the Sheriff actually being okay with heights coming and as we know that he’s a Friend of Red John (although he still could be Red John) we know he’s going to read like Red John, potentially to Jane. So none of it felt significant and I am apathetic to hostile to the Red John stuff apart from its effect on the Team.
So, whatever to that. Fortunately Lisbon and Jane were bickering, he was patronising her, and although his being ordained to marry people totally makes sense, it was something the writers came up with to facilitate the story. Ditto the CBI rescinding the fraternisation rule. The scene where Rigsby asked Cho’s advice about marrying was as prieceless as I’d thought it would be.
