The Christmas episode
Not quite as funny as the Thanksgiving one, but I did enjoy all the Perralta-Holt stuff, with Jake having huge fun being the Captain’s boss for his own safety, and at some level trying to protect him properly too, Holt being the recalcitrant one and the flashbacks suggesting he was a bit like Jake in his younger days. And it was nice to have the student being the teacher about the needing the team lesson, subverting the lesson, if any, that our hero has been having week after week until now.
Yeah, Charles, it’s really not charming when you don’t listen to Rosa telling you to back off. Jumping in front of a bullet doesn’t make up for such disrespect.
Thingy is gelling better as the sort-of lynch-pin of the team.
I thought Revenge (ep 3.12) unexpectedly upped its game in some ways, with Emily and Daniel basically playing Victoria and Conrad or unhappily married Graysons. At least she’s knowing about what she’s doing. He doesn’t seem to have realised (although the actor is totally channelling).
I am also glad that Sarah has walked out on ‘Danny’ (for now?) She was better than that. I mean, her mother treated her like a fourteen year old, which was absurd, but Emily is enjoying being more openly manipulative and battle-hardened.
Oh, and even if it was offscreen (for which, thank you) Mrs Revenge HAD HER WOUND CAUTERISED and probably just winced a little and THEN SHE WENT SWIMMING.
But then! the mysterious black-outs leading to the final scene with Conrad (implied EWWWW) to speculate/worry about. I thought the first time that it was linked to her mother trying to drown her and possibly because of Nico, but it could be anyone or just a consequence of the injury.
The reveal about Victoria, and Patrick being born due to rape, was disturbing if you concentrated on his response and didn’t tot up all Victoria’s traumas before reaching the age of 16. If you do that, the charitable response is no wonder nice David Clark seemed like a burst of sunshine for her! The other response is to roll your eyes at the show.
Everything else was more of the same, I really don’t care about Aiden’s qualms about Hoffman or idiocy in not moving the murder katana or the triangle with him, Nico and Emily. I think Jack is moving too quickly, and it’s really irritating that he didn’t discuss getting a house with Margot sooner, although he’s understandably going to have a tantrum when he finds out about Conrad’s latest business deal. Even the first Mrs Grayson is yet another character from the past who promises to shake things up and may, somewhat, but she’s the latest in a long, long line.
