They practically brought everyone back, except Tom Conti and made that a plot point and I shrieked (literally) more at Heather Small and Gary Barlow!
It was more of a lap of honour than anything, but the plot, such as it was, was Miranda ‘handling’ the break up in typical and atypical fashion, finally standing up to her mother and then going after Gary because she wanted him. Lots of flashbacks, lots of the lyrics game and, in the last five minutes, kissing. Aww.
I loved the scene with everyone galloping and that Miranda did not fall off the horse. The key line was about affirmation, it was also nice that Tilly pointed out that Miranda and her mother do get on, and Hart was clearly moved in the last to-camera. These specials have nimbly made up for season 3 and wrapped things up nicely. The timing was right to bring it all to an end now, although I hope to see Hart on my TV doing stuff other than Call the Midwife and David Walliams adaptations. Things that include PRATFALLING very much, thanking you.
