Gotham 1.21 The Anvil and the Hammer
I had to confirm I was over 18, not 16 to catch up on this one. Erk.
So, I’m just not going to write about most of it. Previously on Bruce and Selina: The Early Years, Selina’s pick-pocketing skills could do with practice
Bruce offering to accompany Alfred s he identified Reggie’s body was both cold and touching. Or, in hindsight, driven by guilt.
Meanwhile, a first love letter from Selina (well, it told him to be careful). I overthought the handwriting...
Though pulling the fire alarm was a good start, I was worried about the cameras at Wayne Enterprises, UNLIKE YOUNG BRUCE. Blah blah your father is not who you thought he was, crumpled face from Bruce – my mind wandered to how they should probably film David Mazouz’s scenes chronologically now that he’s in the middle of this growing spurt – WHAM! Foxy Lucius Fox!!
I’d bin that cookie as soon as poss, Bruce.
Masks at the Foxglove, obviously.
Although I worry about the next time Alfred meets Selina, I trust him to have Bruce’s welfare to be his priority enough to be glad the kid told him. So, Alfred and Lucius will have a job to prove that Thomas Wayne (once again, who cares about Martha, eh?) was A Good Man as his son investigates him too.
As for Penguin, they had to go and make the one intriguing thing – whether Butch was following his own path or if Oswald had set the shooters up to start a gang war – utterly clear for us. Sure, we needed resolution, but not to be treated like stupid people. Well, they did have ‘anvil’ in the title. I’m talking about this because I found it less distasteful than the A-plot and Nygma beoming the Riddler. Wonder if Oswald’s thought enough about how a shooting-mad-with-Falcone Maroni will have no compunction about killing Penguin. I mean, we know he's invincible until Bruce grows up, he believes he's invincible, but Maroni should, by rights, come after him.
Is Fish coming back? Is Selina going to appear? I would like to see how Alfred is around her, and she could offer insight as to what’s going on with Barbara, if they must.
