shallowness: Kira in civvies looking straight ahead (Nashville irresistible Juliette Barnes)
[personal profile] shallowness
I was meant to be less behind on Nashville after last night, but...things happened.

Nashville 3.3. I Can’t Get Over You To Save My Life

They’re still playing Juliette/Avery for some comedy and even though it was all the pregnancy clichés, I can live with that. Also, even though Juliette was unfair in picking on Zoe, I can also live with that.

Aww, Red and Emily ARE her family, although the invasion of privacy was a bit unfortunate (een if their concerns were legitimate).

Knowing this show, Avery too will end up being an alcoholic, but Zoe and Gunnar were terrible at handling his drunkeness.

Derek Hough’s character was all over the shop in the scene set after the audition.

And then she was rehearsing what she was going to tell Avery, and you knew it was going to be bad. (Although when they made such a big deal of Rayna travelling to LA, having Juliette just pop back to Nashville, even if she canonically has a private jet and was just visiting LA, seemed to be pushing it.)

In other news, Daphne is adorable, from snarking about her teenage sister to pitying her father. As is Scarlett: fun as homework. Which obviously got waylaid by her responsibility to Maddie, who she’s anointed an artist, now. Well, fine, write a song together. So Scarlett may fill Juliette’s big sistery niche for all the Maddies with ears.

There was enough entertaining stuff that I didn’t mind the rest of it (I’d forgotten Will was also on Luke’s tour of making Deacon mad). I like to think they called tiny Kylie that to honour Ms Minogue – but I do hope she doesn’t lead to the return of Gunnar’s fraternal angsty downward spiral, because I disliked him for much of that.
