So I'm getting 404 messages on Livejournal, hence the attempted crosspost. Came home last night and saw the very last shot of The Lying Game because it's moved to eight and I didn't realise, thus moving it on to the catch-up list, after The Mentalist and Castle. I only saw the first on that list last night.
4.13 Red is the new black
Quite entertaining, or at least the first time Jane used the gold feather on the Chinese gangsters was. The trick was just about getting wearing when it turned out he hadn’t suspected the killer and Lisbon busted him on it (after recognising his bad news face). But – and it wasn’t just because I was tired when I watched this – the ending left me cold. I quite liked the return of Darcy, except she’s being dogged about Jane covering up leaving his mistakes in plain sight, and those mistakes arise out of the rug-pull of ‘it wasn’t Red John’, which just makes me not want to invest in what is going on, seeing how much of a smack in the face that was. Luther being a bad liar in front of Lisbon was mildly interesting (I suppose we were meant to be suspicious as to whether he’s one of Red John’s pawns, but I was more interested in what Lisbon would make of it). But Rosalind didn’t notice the smell of all that blood? Oh, come on. I’ll give her not acknowledging the armed team because she was upset. (I wonder if I'm missing something because I wasn't watching the show when she was introduced.) So there were Jane’s whoopsies and Wayne’s accidental fatherhood and Grace making him sad (they’ve botched that, I tend to think).
Anyway, I was mildly amused by Lisbon and Cho’s equal lack of nous about fashion. The fixer was good looking and the dress was hideous. I liked Lisbon's hair and there was some weird stuff going on with cups - we saw Lisbon pour some coffee into a mug, but it looked half-empty at best when she subsequently carried it out. Red John's tea cup also looked empty.
I would almost say that the strongest feelings this episode engendered in me was feelings about why I wasn't having stronger feelings.
