6.17 Galentine’s Day

Galentine’s day is back because of Leslie’s crazy and high levels of missing Ann. It took Ann herself (now a mama) to point out that abusing Galentine’s Day was So Very Wrong and for Leslie to take that point in, but hey let’s cherish the way the show cherishes female friendships.

(I had forgotten who Evelyn was, and so appreciated the intro so that I could stop peering at her and guessing.)

I was worried we were going to have to watch Andy, who had regressed more than usual, undergo a dental procedure with Jamm – this would be a supernova of do not want for me, but it was, instead about Ron dealing with being a father at home and at work.

Meanwhile although the tentrepreneur was amusing, Ben was mainly covering ground the show and its viewers have long covered before regarding Larry, perpetual victim of bullying and yet capable of epic ineptitude.

I snickered at April’s message in the bunny.

6.18 Prom

Poehler’s voice was rickety in this episode too. Anyway, prom overtakes the unity concert and Leslie found a mini!stationery lover.

Fair play to the show for embracing the weirdness of all these adults going to prom, reliving their teenage traumas or working through their current issues, and giving a whole roomful of seniors traumas and issues to work through for the rest of their lives.

How seriously Ben and how crazily Tom took being a DJ was funny, but it was obvious Tom wasn’t going to connect with ‘da yoof’. Let’s pretend teenagers from two years ago would love something that I remember from my own teenage years instead. Yes.

I liked how Plaza was either genuinely amused or playing it like April was charmed, despite herself, at Andy’s singing invitation to go to prom to him. The whole thing where Orin played April’s mother and how Andy took it was beautiful, and probably my favourite part of the episode. Because it was probably April who wanted that picture. Her outfit was also awesome. Andy basically ripped off Never Been Kissed.

It was also great that the Principal remembered Leslie and had power over her. Ron’s revelation about the scale of Leslie’s crazy was ace and he did speak sense.
