I still don’t know what to make of the fact that I realised, when watching the trailer for Storks, that Andy Samberg was playing the main stork from the way he said ‘nemesis’. What does that say about me? What does that say about Brooklyn Nine-Nine?
Oh, and also I caught a bit of a season 1 Agents of SHIELD episode and was reminded of how thoroughly infuriating I found Skye and how bland Ward was. You know how you change your mind about some things after time? Well, sometimes, you don’t.

7.7 Donna and Joe
They found the right balance here, because it was never going to be about Donna and Joe, per se, which is fine, because Joe epitomises very nice but dull and we had lots of Donna-April feels – Craig the wedding planner and Tom the butler in chief were far less importnt. And the moment where Donna gave Garry his name? Aww. Actually, it was a lot about Donna and that was wonderful.
But it was more about being at a wedding, certainly with the whole Tom-Lucy-Ron tangle. (A line to explain where Diane was wouldn’t be too much to ask). Ron cutting through Tom’s waffle was good, and the sacrifices he made!
Meanwhile we had more of a glimpse into the chaos of Leslie and Ben’s lives with triplets and the return of a political chance...for Ben. Although competent!Ben is indeed hot, Leslie, I do feel a little cheated that he’s got this opportunity and not Leslie, even if she has turned down opportunities to stop being in charge of the parks of Pawnee and the rest of the US. But still, it meant the return of Jen Barklay, chortling that she gets to do what she wants and walk away from the screaming kids.
I did find the quick cuts to everyone during the vows too quick, though, almost uncomfortably so. But a truly heartwarming and amusing ep.
7.8 Ms Ludgate-Dwyer Goes to Washington
I feel like there was another gap where I missed Ben found out April wanted to leave her job and get another, but it’s only the first episode of the season that I’ve missed.
Anyway, Leslie at peak Leslie dragged April to Washington, where many political figures got to make cameos. I thought that the way they sketched out those missing years of Leslie steamrollering all of them for the national parks service and basically forcing Madeline Allbright into a friendship with her was well done.
Meanwhile Andy got Ben and Ron (and eventually the others, which by now includes Craig) to try to find April a job. The revelations about Ron’s firm (and family) were hilarious and I always love a return to Ben’s no. 1 fan club/the accountancy firm. Of course, the boys went too far in not waiting to consult with her, and Andy went really too far.
The Leslie-April stuff was lovely, though, especially when April ran her idea by Leslie, proving what she’d said about loving and respecting her. I still think that they should have been done with April finding her direction several seasons/years ago and we’ve been here before over animals. BUT with Leslie’s latest promotion, Ben’s campaign and April thinking of a new job (unless if the service opens an office in Pawnee) they’re all definitely splitting up now in a ‘No, this is the final season’ way.
