The Good Wife

I tried to watch The Good Wife on 4oD Friday, but it was only available with Audio Description, which was too distracting, so I gave it up. Tried watching it again on Sunday, but the ep had been pulled, with comments on the website from other people expressing my feelings of frustration at the AD (I’m all for it, so long as it’s opt-in!). Anyway, on the third attempt, I could watch it there was a button for AD that I didn’t press and I could enjoy it in peace (well, it kept buffering, but that was less annoying than AD).
4.1 I Fought the Law...
I had somehow forgotten quite how good the show is. I thought this episode did a nice job of bringing us mostly up to date with where everyone is and introducing new elements (Lockhart & Gardner’s bankruptcy etc), while leaving us short of a few character interactions, but I can wait.
Because I hadn’t seen it on Thursday – not because it aired in the US months ago! - I was spoiled about Marc Warren turning up. I have to say that he wasn’t who I expected Kalinda’s husband to be (a Canadian of Indian origin, tbh). My first reaction was ACCENT WATCH, because that’s how I think. Secondly, he’s the same type as Cary. Trust Kalinda to empty the house of most of her stuff, but not her weapons. I will wait and see with how this relationship develops.
I loved how Alicia, Peter and Zack (although I called both males idiots quite liberally) did what they did, and messed up things for everyone else, for completely believable reasons. Indeed, they all thought they were doing the right thing – well, Peter was acting on instinct. But the neighbouring SA is another enemy.
I would also point out that Alicia’s attempt to keep the privacy that Zack is so cavalier about isn’t going to be thwarted by Eli or Peter. Grace and Zack are too old (and healthy) to fight that fight.
I enjoyed David Lee’s histrionics and how he was eventually played. I was surprised that Will and Diane didn’t see through The Trustee trying to divide them sooner. I am glad that Mom and Pop stuck together for the firm, and Alicia had to acknowledge that it was right for Will to celebrate the end of his suspension with Diane. The Will and Alicia scene, though...started off fine and then by the end I was reminded of how much I am still rooting for them.
I think it’s time to meet Alicia’s divorced parents (or is one of them dead?) and examine up close how that is affecting her decisions about the status of her relationship with Peter.
Had Kristen Chenoweth been on the show before? I couldn’t remember.
