shallowness: Kira in civvies looking straight ahead (Wanda Infinity War)

(as opposed to Timeless’s Lightship - I'm sure I've mixed them up in past posts)

Agents of SHIELD 5.10 All the Comforts of Home

Back in the twenty-first century! Woo! Except it was a bit scattershot, and most of the new developments don’t leave me excited about what’s coming next. The opening mother-daughter dynamic didn’t work for me, so when the twist that murdering military mother kept her fighter daughter (or ‘daughter’) in a bunker came, I wasn’t bothered. Although it does bother me that the china doll pretty blonde girl has weapons that look like Shuri’s somehow.

So, they returned to the Lighthouse, found it was a repository for dangerous monoliths and whatnot (what could possibly go wrong?) and for Noah – less annoying than Enoc as far as I can tell based on the one episode.

Yelena was chewing over what her future self had warned her about, and we were left wondering if they could change the timeline, and then I was left wondering didn’t she have her arms in the bits of the timeloop we saw, or were they prosthetics?

The rest of the team only had a moment (a lovely moment) out in the sun, which worked better than Deke’s extended montage of enjoying the past. Somewhere after he walked into the bar and I knew he wasn’t going to be able to pay the too affable barman, it got tired. I’m also less than pleased that Potential Love Interest no 4 for Daisy came back to the past, tbh, because that’s where the bickering is going, although his relative uselessness in a fight is a plus. (He looks different in daylight). What if he meets his great/grandparents? Also, he might be the thing that changes the timeline…

I was glad to see Piper, but in what universe is it worth using a beacon signalling to the Kree as bait for unearthing Team Coulson? Never mind the science, what about the logic? That the bad guys were using faceless robots was more interesting than the teenage miss and the guy in the closing scene, because it suggests the authorities have learned the wrong lessons from the AIDA debacle.

I smirked at the ‘small but active fanbase’ line, and May topping the recap of all they’ve been through with ‘dancing’. Also, Fitz is never goting to let Ward trying to drown him and Jemma go, is he? Understandable, that.

I’m still invested in whether Daisy as Quake will destroy the world or not and expecting the team to fight Papa Kasius, plus in whether they’ll get five minutes’ downtime for Fitzsimmons to get married and May and Coulson to get it on before he admits he’s not fine, but these things were seeded before this episode.
