Arrested Development

A Couple of Forces of Nature: Doyle (George Michael/Maeby, season 4 canon divergence/fix-it)

Very, very well done. Great characterisation, humour, a bit of sweetness.

Arrival

Relativism: CherryIce (Louise, Ian, background L/I)

I loved how cleverly this used vidding techniques to explore the ideas of this film: quick cuts, repetition and the rest of it. The music is atmospheric and I loved the focus on hands or hand-equivalents, intimacy contrasted with and joined by wonder. I suspect this is one I'll get more out of on rewatches.

The Bourne series

Leaving Scars: anr (Nicky/Jason, post Ultimatum)

Sparse, but expansive, this draws a complex Nicky in a short piece.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine

The Ladies Book Club of the Ninety Ninth Precinct: igrockspock (Gen)

This was enjoyably character-driven. Loved how it was a story of Amy and Rosa’s friendship by stealth.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer (crossover with Spooks and Sherlock)

London Games: LJS (gen with Giles/Anya, part of the Investigations and Acquisitions verse)

This is lovely, set on the eve of the London Olympics, adding a new (?) crossover element to the I&A tapestry (see past recs) and, as ever, the depiction of Anya and Giles's relationship.

DC (Batman)

Selina Kyle: Romeo Mafia (BatCat)

There’s a gorgeous intensity to this drawing, with the focus on her experience.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them

You Can Count on Me: Trelkez (Newt & beasts, Newt & Jacob, Newt &/Tina)

This was lovely in its focus on kindness and helping out, with the expansion in each section.

Character-driven, with feels and UST, lovely details and the pay-off of the care-taking at the end.

Tina Goldstein is the one who you go to when you need a spare charmed handkerchief, a nickel for a cup of coffee, an extra warming spell, a willing shoulder to listen to or tea and sympathy.
...Newt Scamander needs a damn leash, also possibly a knock over the head, though in the muddle after the Barebones and Graves affair (as it’s being referred to now), he looks he’s already gotten several of those.


Here's hoping to see Fantastic Beasts...2 and post the second part of this batch sooner rather than later!
