1. What OTPs in your fandom(s) do you just not get?
Generally, I don’t share the liking for enemy!ships. I can only think of a very few exceptions, and I mostly don’t believe in a HEA for them, which mainly I want for my OTPs. I don’t mean couples who say ‘I hate you’ and mean ‘I love you’, here, I mean couples where one is on the side of good and the other is on the side of evil. (Eg some ships involving Loki make me go ‘bzuh!?’)
2. Are there any popular fandom OTPs you only BroTP?
Most slash pairings. Emily/Nolan, kind of.
3. Any fandoms that don’t appeal to you?
There are shows and films that don’t appeal to me that I know have huge fandoms. There are shows that I’ve really enjoyed but don’t feel the need to read fic for – Burn Notice is one that comes to mind, although I’m only slowly going through the DVDs at my own pace. So there are definitely properties that I enjoy that I don’t feel the need to participate in fandoms for.
Oh, comic books. I don’t like the medium, although I do like superheroes, so I know them through adapted sources. But from an early age I have preferred text or moving, talking pictures to comic books.
Fandoms without least one female character I like or a het pairing to draw me in are probably going to fall into this camp.
4. Have you ever unfollowed/unfriended someone? Why?
Yes. My profile says I’ll do so if our fandom interests drift apart. If I regularly skip over someone’s posts, especially if we didn’t have much interaction, I’ll think about defriending. Or if I find someone’s content annoying (eg spoilers).
5. Do you have a NO!TP in [insert fandom here]?
Yes, probably in every fandom. I define OTPs by my visceral reaction to either person being in a relationship with anyone else.
6. Has fandom ever ruined a pairing for you?
Not really. Maybe Max/Alec in Dark Angel. I still like the idea of them, but I got so burned out that the thought of revisiting post-Pulse Seattle, even to rewatch the DVDs, wearies me.
7. Is there anything you used to like, but now can’t stand?
Bones. Watching season 3 on DVD last year killed it for me. I had issues before, but what they did to and with Zack just put me right off, even though I know the writers’ strike was a factor. I’m sure there are other things, but that was the most recent.
8. Unpopular opinion about [insert fandom here]?
A lot of people are watching Downton Abbey wrong.
9. Have you received anon hate? What about?
No.
10. Any fandom you’re ashamed of being in?
Sometimes I get twinges about my main writing fandom being a Disney kids movie about superheroes in high school. Sometimes I get twinges about my younger girl/older guy thing. Then I think of the world outside fandom and the fact that I would receive a ‘...’ if I unleashed my full geeky fangirl persona on the Muggles.
And if you've ever wanted to ask me a question about shipping, have at it. I'll try my best to answer.
