shallowness

As with last year, I won’t be doing the writing meme separately, because once again the only fanfiction that I posted in 2025 were three-sentence ficathon fills, all ten of them coming to a total of 1,108 words (which would make a respectable-for-me word count for one fic once upon a time.) Four were original works, two were from Mansfield Park, one the 2007 Persuasion adaptation, one Harry Potter, one St. Trinian’s and one for Wicked – Part 1. They can be found here. I don’t think I really wrote much else fictionwise over the year, perhaps some other drafts for the three-sentence ficathon, and some editing. Let’s hope 3SF inspires something and, ideally, something I watch or read sparks a fic.

I reposted seven fics (all ficlets), five of which are in the same collection, and there are still fics that need to be reposted here and at AO3.

I was saddened to learn yesterday of Michelle Trachtenberg’s passing at only 39. I hadn’t watched Gossip Girl, so she’s always been frozen as Dawn, the youngest Scoobie, in my mind. And now, if the Buffy reboot ever gets off the ground, she won't be able to be a part of it in any capacity. But obviously for the people who knew and loved her, the loss is greatest.

Jupiter Jones/Caine Wise (Jupiter Ascending) because I just read a fic about how Jupiter is overcome by his hotness, her new space werewolf fetish and her feelings about him. Cinema: Anatomy of a Fall, which I thought was good, although I’m not raving about it like critics. Streaming: The Last Five Years, Anna Kendrick in a musical, which is, OF COURSE, set in New York, aggressively so because shooting on location is one of the big reasons to adapt it into a movie.

Currently reading

Fanfic (see above). Otherwise, I’ve just started a book (non-fiction, a gift so I’m not going to name it.) I’m planning to read a chapter in between fiction, but I haven’t started the next one yet. I just finished ‘Dark Orbit’ by Caroline Ives Gilman, sci-fi, with A LOT going on in it.

Currently watching

It Takes Two and Strictly Come Dancing live or as live as I can, The Wheel of Time (my take on the last ep I watched ought to have been this post), Cardiac Arrest and Hart of Dixie. I’m also rewatching The West Wing. Some quiz shows and panel shows that I generally don’t discuss here.
