shallowness: Margaret Hale of North and South adaptation sitting at desk writing (Margaret North and South writing)
[personal profile] shallowness
Yesterday I posted The Business of Walking, (Gotham, post 4.22, Selina, teen) Summary: They told Selina she’d never walk again. 2,217 words. It’s a cri de coeur, I fully expect it to be jossed and it’s not even what I want to happen, well, mostly, but there was a part of me that was hurt and angry on Selina’s behalf, so I wanted to let that part be heard. I started the fic around the same time as ‘EXHIBIT: Sharp-suited man’, I’ve returned to it on and off, but with determination once it was announced Gotham was coming back soon. (By the way, Sunday night doesn’t feel like the right night to air Gotham for me.)

The idea of Selina learning to walk again to walk away from Bruce after he wasn’t there for her was always central. My handwaving as to how she can do that is Alfred’s magic herbal tea, and although a part of me feels bad about how it isn’t going to work like that for someone who loses the ability to walk…it’s Gotham. Let’s see how they resolve it!

I’m now going to work on a happier WeeBatCat future fic that touches on a similar theme. Don’t know if I’ll get it ready to post before I start watching the new season, but I don’t think it’s as time sensitive.

Ghosts 1.4 Free Pass

I laughed out loud even more at this episode. I think my highpoint is Julian’s weird pronunciation of his wife (?)’s free passes from Gladiators. Obviously, the writers knew their way around the big hook for the episode: a TV company came to the house to shoot a period drama and the ghosts weren’t all right with it and then mostly became interested, Alison appeared mad because she was talking to recalcitrant spectres that no-one else could see, but it was the state of the house that ended the shoot. I laughed at the actor falling through the floor, too, obviously. And Pat (possibly the nicest of them? Him or Kitty) didn’t go and rescue Thomas from his snit-imposed exile, while Mike’s wounded male vanity was also rather touching. I wonder how many of the actual crew appeared onscreen.
