Killing Eve 3.6 End of Game
They…didn’t kill Niko!? (Again!?) In-show, that’s careless of Dasha, and they really ought to do something with that failure than spoiling a bowling match. But extrinsically, even his understandable brush-off of Eve seemed superfluous.
Then Villanelle’s off-the-book killing for Konstantin was her alibi. Heh. Which Dasha didn’t now about.
We had Eve versus the vending machine/Symbol for Life.
Villanelle got the perks but not the promotion – too good at the killing? Well, that and the instability. This, plus the maternal stuff from last episode, sent her off to jostle with Irina and freak Konstantin out. He was a key, key figure in this episode as past deeds became revealed, as events with three daughters, one his, one surrogate and one not his, played out, possibly ruining his future.
We saw more of investigative Eve, but nothing will beat Carolyn’s interrogation in a car. Was Konstantin lying about what Kenny called about? I mean, Kenny had previously had time to decide he just didn’t want to know about what those two had clearly got up to.
Irina gave away the escape plan (probably) to Villanelle, so it was worth her taking the long route via Russia to get to Romania, where she’d lost her appetite for killing and left way more DNA than usual, though the secret service and investigative journalists seem to have her killings tagged.
We got the answer to the question of whether Carolyn’s smarmy colleague was in with the Twelve not long after it was posed.
The scene with her daughter – is Carolyn not able to lie because she has to do it in her job? – was powerful. Ditto the angry bowling scene – did they have to rig something up for that shot of Eve hitting all the pins backwards? Or was there a happy accident? Because there were a lot of cuts that suggested the actresses can’t bowl after that.
And then we saw Villanelle’s corrupting influence on Irina, even as she’s getting sick of the killing herself. Great ending, great acting, but unless if they’re hits, I’m going to be dubious of any men ‘dying’ on this show from now on.
