funny women (and men)

Came home last night, mentally urging these shows to be funny, because I needed nothing more than a laugh.
Parks and Recreation - 2.05 Sister City
In which the Venezuelans visited Pawnee and were funnily rude. Tom got his most redeeming moment yet when he donated the money.
2.06 - Kaboom!
In which the pit is filled sooner than I expected. Goodbye, pit! We get ‘insight’ into the ‘thought processes’ of Andy. Leslie tries to break the rules then fails and feels bad about it, which was eminently predictable. Lots of excellent reaction shots. The whole 'Kaboom!' expericene reminded me of a cross between long lamented UK TV Saturday morning shows and the barn raising days in Seven Brides for Seven Brothers/Witness.
The Mindy Project - 1.03 In the club
I’m glad we got more of Shauna and Betsy – good call to focus on all the younger workplace characters. Mindy’s dress was gorgeous and a nice use of the spectacle removal move – I appreciate all the rom com tropes. Josh the sports attorney didn’t make a great impression – the show buffered about six times, because almost needless to state, I was catching up online, so I became fixated on the fact that her head is much bigger than his. I was mainly happy that, despite herself, Mindy choosing her friends was for the best. There were seeds for my ship and I did laugh when the show wasn't buffering.
1.04 - Halloween
I thought the boys’ big secret was that Danny had agreed to go to the tanning studio after all - continuity.
I thought it was a bandage that Mindy had on her finger that she’d somehow acquired after injuring her ex, but it was a ring.
I was more invested in and amused by the driver’s licence plotline, actually. I liked the Mindy-other staff interaction and The Princess Bride stuff, and adored that it was felt unnecessary to explain why Mindy was grossed out by the cat, but it didn’t equal the revelation that the DMV staff knew Danny because he’d been there so often.
The Mindy Project occasionally mystified me because of American cultural references that I didn't quite get, and I'm almost happy about that. (I'm still feeling guilty for not giving the Anna and Issy show, if that its name, a chance, but some of the sketches sounded like not my thing.)
In conclusion, I did laugh, and that was good.
