1.13 There’ll be no teardrops tonight
It’s hilarious that the two leads are nowhere near Nashville – did they not consider this when making the tour such a big strand? ANYway, I hope all Rayna’s issues don’t affect Scarlett and Gunnar’s chances of being signed and getting a decent chance.
Lots of ‘fancy that’ moments – Liam crossing paths with Rayna’s tour so soon, Gunnar’s big brother coming to Nashville and Hayley crossing paths with Avery. (I feel like they dropped a few scenes with him, which I can live with.)
I love tiny little Scarlett bossing Gunnar – and she was right about his brother manipulating Gunnar, who couldn’t hear the alarm bells of ‘and then he pulled out a gun’ – too right she deserves to be called ‘ma’am’ by Jason. Lovely song over the montage, and typical that just cuz he made music with them that Scarlett melts.
Yeah, that’s what I care about the most, not Glenn mishandling Juliette, who isn’t as grown up as she thinks she is, not Rayna being the grown up until she wasn’t and whether she did or didn’t with Liam. It’s still less complicated than if she’d turned to Deacon, although that’s another bump for them to work through. Oh, and Peggy was there for Teddy, thus enabling him to be a little more weak and selfish than his wife. Poor Maddy and poor Juliette’s assistant. (Emily.)
1.14 Dear Brother
Huh, yeah, Juliette doesn’t really know Scarlett.
I was willing to give Thandie (sp?) the doubt for behaving like a sister first, over their father’s daughter, and it seemed justified. Why, even her father was decent to Rayna!
I half think Scarlett and Gunnar are half married already, the way they’re behaving.
Picking your Peggy for financial consultant? After her involvement in the fraud? Yes, that’s being your own man and a good mayor, Teddy, NOT. Okay, inviting Cole to be deputy is a step in a better direction. But his naivete about Lemar was literally incredible.
I presume some of the party guests meant more to country fans than me, and the moment when Juliette realised how good Scarlett and Gunnar was funny. Rayna’s song was lovely (although the guests must have been super politely trying not to read anything into it while at the party. WHAT WAS HER GURU THINKING?) I loved that in Rayna/Deacon – Scarlett/Gunnar parallel news, Rayna singing made Scarlett miss Gunnar. (Meanwhile Rayna missed seeing the younger pair sing live.)
Eek, Gunnar! I was totally supportive of your throwing the gun away – and having one might well not have saved Jason, at best, it would have got him into more legal difficulties, surely. But he’s still partly the boy who blames himself for his brother’s troubles. And now his brother is dead. I am going to take Scarlett’s move (finally!) as based on her worrying herself sick about him overnight and realising how much she cares more than pity.
I find the fact that Juliette was kind to her mother is a good sign. A dog for Deacon was ALMOST a perfect gift. Apart from him being a guitarist who is working on a current tour. But Juliette not thinking something like that through!? Fancy that.
Parks and Rec double-bill catch-up tonight!
