shallowness: Kira in civvies looking straight ahead (Penelope Bang Bang gleeful)
[personal profile] shallowness
I went to see Iron Man 3 a second time yesterday, and I'm glad that it was the second time, otherwise that audience would have irritated me far more. I wouldn't be surprised if the child behind us who was clearly well under 12 and had a tantrum had nightmares after some of the stuff that goes on in that film. Also phone screens were lit up everywhere. Also I may have scalded myself with coffee while sitting down. But the film itself was tremendous fun.

Anyway, Wednesday night is funny women being funny night:

Parks and Rec 2.17 Woman of the Year

I enjoyed Ron winding Leslie up a lot, especially as you knew he knew she deserved it, but I also the ribbing, which went on throughout the whole ep, of her idealistic feminism/gender-based assumptions. And the show got to cock a snook at awards too.

For the eleventy billioneth time, poor Jerry.

Although too much of him would be annoying, bringing back Tom’s doppelganger was funny. Did not know which way Donna would go on the shares, and though I would have run from the ‘investment’ myself, good on her. Not sure it’s so good to take money off an idiot like Andy (who can’t pay rent). They will have to make a move on April/Andy or I will wonder about her not noticing the low IQ.

2.18 The Possum

Not sure which I preferred the most, the possum story line or the Swanson code, because both were properly funny – I’m really glad we got to see more of Ron’s woodshop. His mancave equivalent would be the perfect place for his disdain for government to be played out, but given that he seemed to have many fire hazards, I’m so on Mark’s side. Heh, Ann and April may not become friends, but Mark and Ron are.

April admitting to Leslie how she feels about Andy got an ‘aww’ out of me too.

The Mindy Project 1.10 Mindy’s Little Brother

While it was nice to see Mindy’s family – she pays for her brother’s university tuition? – and Morgan’s involvement in his rapping career was nice, Danny and Jeremy’s crafty and absurd attempts to get their rent lowered were funnier.

I liked the background reactions to what was going on – which you’re going to have to stress vomiting, really. The image of all the stones laid out on Mindy’s face were also funny.

And Danny is all kinds of touch-feely and wanted to impress her family, no? Even if he definitely does not want to spend twenty years to life with her.

Uh-huh.

Watching it on 4oD, I learned that the duration was 20 minutes 45 seconds. Now, as that included buffering, I have no idea whether it counted the ads, but my point is that that’s too short.
