shallowness: Kira in civvies looking straight ahead (Penelope Bang Bang gleeful)
[personal profile] shallowness
I brought forward funny women night to Tuesday so that I could be sure of catching the last two episodes of Parks and Rec, and it meant that I could watch the Mindy Project Live.

P&R: 2.21 The Master Plan (immediate reaction)

So that is the much talked about Ben – another example of how I’m so not coming to this show fresh and making discoveries for myself, which I do think slightly affects how I watch and react to this show.

How did you make me (and Ron Swanson) care so much, April?

Also Ron’s FACE at the news that the Government is being shut down – bet he won’t be smiling when the raccoons of Pawnee have their wicked way because there’s no-one to deal with them (or he doesn’t get paid.)

2.22 Freddy Spaghetti (immediate reaction)

Breaking the pattern set by all the other double-bills, this was less funny than the previous episode, even though Ron Swanson did his best to make me laugh – the glee, the new ring tone, the stumble and The Swanson. But with Leslie vs. the cuts; a feeling of packing up - turns out Mark is indeed a little too boringly normal for the show/not making Ann’s heart race; but at least they gave him a decent send-off, and his salute to Leslie and making it about the park was lovely; April and Andy taking one step forward and a huge one backwards (thanks, Ann!) it wasn’t brimful of laughs.

And now, we have to wait a while for season 3 on the BBC, I s’pose.

The Mindy Project

I think this the first TMP episode I’ve watched on my TV set – and thus I have no idea what the episode number or title were.

I felt a bit that I’d missed something between Mindy and Brendan the Midwife i.e. how they got from the point in the lift to sharing a bed (with several inanimate objects). The new other best friend from college, while amusing, was a rando.

And then – I assume – Kaling invited BJ Novak to co-write and appear on her show so that they could be all meta (and funny).

I thought it would be his blood sugar that would split up Danny and Eye-patch. I will claim that it was.

That both Mindy and Danny decided to bring Morgan along for their Big Gestures was typical.

I watched Up the Women (episode 3) on Wednesday and Sandy Toksvig as Emmeline Pankhurst was a genuine shot of something that the show needed. I don’t really know enough about Pankhurst to know whether Hynes made most of it up, but, never mind, it was funny, even if some of the show’s problems still lingered.

Also that night I rewatched an Arrested Development episode that featured Jane Lynch, Julia Louis Dreyfuss and Amy Poelher as guest performers. I thought that was notable.

And then, courtesy of musesfool, I saw Ryan Hansen’s vid responding to all the Kickstarter awesomeness that’s getting the Veronica Mars movie to be made and allowing him to reprise Dick Casablancas. Even if you don’t care about VM, it's wortth watching. It surely made him win at the interwebs the day he posted it.
